Telvanni and Apocrypha Treasure Maps from IA

Hello all, I know this is an already exhausted theme ever since the zones were up, festivals came and went, drops happend and were forgotten but there is ONE lead which ( to me anyhow) remains a mistery yet.

Now that the Archive has Telvanni and Apocrypha treasure maps one may obtain them in greater abundance to hope for those oh so rare leads.

So can anyone explain to me why after almost 100k in Archival Fortunes worth of maps, which aren't all that many to begin with ( seems apocrypha has only two: I and II and Telvanni 4: I, II, III, IV!) - not a SINGLE Apocrypha Well lead has dropped!?

Yes the leads drop ONLY from these stupid ( overly expenssive, exhaustingly rare!) maps - and I have only got one in my entire life, probably during the festival of the zone, where everyone seem to have gotten one in general. One well, not one lead ( to be clear!). To be able to afford the thing ad-infinitum one needs 3. Not only this antiquity needs 3 leads to begin with, each lead with a stupid-rare drop rate, now is not even ANYWHERE to be found!? I mean common! How is this even fair!?

So please zos confirm that there is a bug with the Apocrypha Well, or increase the drop rate because this is an absolute mockery of one's time and resources! Thank you!

Oh - and in case you wonder how much of a mockery? - Imagine having completed ALL the other maps-based leads through these maps, but not a single well drop!

Why do I think there is a glitch ? Because I am fairly sure that during said festival I haven't gotten anywhere near the nr of maps I purchased now from the Archive, and yet the well dropped ! Now? not even the shadow of it! Thank you !

Hey, yea, Apocryphal Well is the worst of the worst for me when it comes to piecing together a 3/3 codex.

Here's my answer from another thread where a player asked which Leads were the most frustrating when putting together a codex:

"and this is probably the winner in the worst category) was the furnishing thing Apocryphal Well, this Well consists of a total of 3 gold Leads that have a chance to drop from Treasure Maps in T. Peninsula and Apocrypha, here I had about 500 maps open in total and I was on 1/3 codex and from the second codex I had 1 Lead and I had a series of more than 300 maps without a single Lead. I completed it thanks to the event (Tamriel Pan) which was where the chances of Leads from treasure maps were increased, I only needed 60 maps during this event in total and the codex get to 3/3, without the event I don't know..."

Actually getting 3 gold Leads for the first dig wasn't much of a problem for me but putting together a 3/3 codex on Apocryphal Well was a pure pain and if it wasn't the event earlier in the year (Pan Tamriel) I might not have made it to 3/3 even now.

So yes, I can imagine how you feel...

Well I have only made it to 1/3 during said event, while I did read the forums in which a glitch has been confirmed considering said leads (then fixed), and due to the high prices in maps on the market ( for gold at guild traders) and the general low drop of them in world - not to mention the fact that of the entire DLC there are only 2 maps to be picked in Apocrypha , I have been waiting for the chance in which they will add said maps in the Archive in forever.

Now the maps are available for a week from said Archive - but the drop rate seems ... zero. What I want is some form of confirmation that maps coming from this source DO in fact drop the leads, before I exhaust what little Archive Fortunes I have left, and seeing that my experience so far is as I wrote above, well yes - it feels ... glitched. Unless I am too hopeful and the rate is intended as low as all that.

I mean I get it - it is meant to be rare - fine and dandy - but so many maps and not even ONE well lead? you know? ONE to put one's hopes up that it ... exists? Never you mind the well itself needs 3 (THREE) leads all from treasure maps! It honestly feels like a bad joke by now.

Ah - and on a side note - since we're talking Telvanni and Apocrypha maps from the Archive: Another beloved lead dropping from treasure maps ( I fortunately completed on a 3/3 level) , is the Mushrmoom Book! Now this is a green lead, easily done even without event and increased rates. But from THESE particular maps I haven't got a single drop of that either!

Methinks I do need to at least raise an eyebrow at these occurences, no?

I bought all the maps that appeared on the market in 4 days (about 50 maps). I got 4 leads I needed, including 3 for the well.

Well I want 6 more for the 3/3 on the well, and I am talking specifically about the Apocrypha maps now available for a week for apocryphal fortunes. I am aware that maps from other sources have a small chance of drop - I am not certain about these particular ones though. Reason I opened up this post.

The side note for the Mushroom Classification Book also opened on this same source.

I think you can get Leads from maps bought in IA, I don't see why they should be different than the ones you buy for gold, but that's just my opinion ofc..
Personally I never bought maps in IA so unfortunately I can't confirm it.

The logic certainly says so - but since I have encountered the facts mentioned above, I am still seeking for some confirmation. And yes "leads" in general you definitely can get. Specifically though there are two types of leads I never encountered: The well leads ( ALL of them) and the Mushroom Classification Book lead.

And to give more clarification in regards to said drops, the reason I am also having this question is because I have noticed the drop rate to be quite good on all other leads - namely one in 3 maps would indeed drop a lead. Except these ones I mentioned. I even got one of the Morrowind Stained Glass lead ( to my surprise!) - which further made me wonder about the clarity of drops.

The only thing I can confirm is that you can drop all 3 golden Leads from both Apocrypha and Peninsula treasure maps and I can also tell you that I personally had a series of more than 300 open maps without a single golden Lead.
So the drop Leads for Apocryphal Well is really small so even if you open 200 maps you may not have even one drop... I know that from personal experience.
But I don't think the maps from IA are any different than the ones you buy from other players.

Leads are pretty much RNG and most players have the worst of it.

Personally the apocryphal well went pretty fast here.

I bought 24 maps from the IA vendor too and got the 3rd lead for the shroom book.
Only missing one single lead now for a apocryphal structure.

Thank you all for the insight. The shroom book if I'm not mistaken is a single lead and green at that, I remember having gotten that before even the event (with the increased drop rates) was up to level of completion 3/3 without any problems. Which is what amazed me on the IA maps, as given my idea of said lead dropping fairly easy , despite the current nrs of maps I used ( which was definitely way above my otherwise rare drops in world) never once dropped!

As a consequence ( and not without the former known issues with the Well leads as far as I can recall), I thought I'd do well to ask the question because ... it just feels non-existent for now. But thank you again. Will try some more!

    Aye, it's a single lead.
But I mentioned that, because I found all apocryphal well leads before finishing all shroom book leads.
So RNG hits a bit different for all players.
My last missing lead is also a green one.

Considering the amount of effort needed to acquire archival fortunes and the amount of almost nothing that drops from treasure map chests, I'm considering skipping this week's maps. Oh, and on occasion a lead does drop from maps bought at the archive. Usually not the one you're after, of course.

I recently finished my 3rd Apocryphal Well. My first copy (all 3 pieces) was acquired in 4 maps total. My next 2 copies to fill out my codex took over 500 maps to finish. This is a horrible grind that I don't wish on anyone. For some reason, 2nd and 3rd copies of some leads are excessively difficult to find, including this Apocryphal Well.

Best of luck on your search. When the maps are in the IA vendor, it's definitely the best time to farm. I recently finished my West Weald map leads when they were in IA.

does your logic take into account rng and possibly specially lowered drop chances for these particular leads? because don't take rng into account in a problem regulated specifically by rng is irresponsible

Did you read the level of rng I wrote about above? With 1 lead in aproximately 3 maps ( all and any OTHER leads) - it stands in fact to reason ( and logic) to expect at least one golden drop yes ?

Also for anyone who finds my problem too silly or nonsensical, you are entitled to your thought, but be so kind and don't share it cause it's entirely irrelevant to said problem, and I posted this to seek data on something I encountered, but I am only one, others interested and involved in this may add up.

Thank you, and yes it's how I saw it as well (own earned maps in greater abundance), especially with leads dropping as often as all that. So I found it utterly odd to haven't had gotten from those maps a single golden lead for the Well, and what with my memory of the past in which I read it used to be glitched ( leads not dropping), I wanted to make sure the occurence isn't repeating and the Well does in fact exist, just awfully rare, more rare than anything else in the antiquity realm apparently. My first Well was about as fast too ( but it was also the event time I think) - so I did expect rarity of drops, just not this level of rare. Hence why I wrote in the original post that it does feel like a bit of a bad joke overall.

All confirmations of the fact are highly appreciated and everyone who added or will add their experience with this has my gratitude.

I have given up on getting the second set of leads from West Weald and Apocrypha. The game in general is bugged about these and those two zones are much worse than the others for unknown reasons.

As long as the devs state that they keep getting leads and do not investigate further, I won’t even waste free maps on these leads.
