May I start a thread in this Forum even if it is not in English?

Is it because we cannot support non-English speakers?
Why is there a Read Only section in the Forum for languages other than English? Frankly speaking, no one reads this section and the Steam news is more useful.

You could try using a translator and post the English translation.

If you tell us which language it is, someone who understands both might also check whether everything is translated correctly.

It might make it difficult for the moderation process.

If you go top left of the forum on the black banner you can click on the language drop down to go to the English US, English intl, Francais, Deutsch, Espanol (EU), and 3 others (I guess Russian and Simplified Chinese being two of these).

If one of those is helpful you might be better off posting there

I myself do not speak English and rely on internet translations.
My question is not there, but whether it is possible to start a forum thread in a non-English language.

You could certainly try, though such a post may not get much attention since nearly all of the communication on this forum is in English. I don't see anything in the forum rules suggesting that posts cannot be in other languages; and in fact there are occasionally non-English-language posts in the guild recruitment sections of the forums for example.

Perhaps the best bet might be to make the post but also run it through a translator and include the English translation below the actual post as well.

The mods ask that you post in English or include a translation:

    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/328249/quando-uscira-il-gioco-in-italiano-when-will-be-eso-translated-in-italian-as-previouses-games

    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/278729/vy-byli-otstraneny-ot-sayta

There are more recent examples of moderator messages that I’ve seen but can’t find at the moment. It should be included in the rules for transparency, since the mods have enforced it like one.

Oh that's interesting, yeah it should be mentioned specifically in the rules. Maybe I'm missing it but can't find it there.

I read the threads under "most recent" and not under specific sections so that I can see what players are constantly talking about. The sections are nice from an organization standpoint, but I hate jumping around, especially when mods move them to sections I don't agree with.

Don't know why anyone would want to.

IMHO the majority probably would not understand it and many might post negative responses.

The Server caters to NA. The majority on NA understand basic English. Just makes sense to me that any poster would want their issue to be read and responded to by as many people as possible.

In the top left, you should be able to click on "English" and switch from there to the French, German, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, or Japanese Forums. I am not sure how active those forums are, but you should be able to post there in the specified language. They should not be read-only.

It is definitely active and even some information is there earlier than here on the english forum.
And it's definitely not "read only" compared to the bottom section where important information is posted (you have it written there)
    Russian:

    Etc...

I understand that the moderators may not be able to monitor the site if it is not in English. However, the Japanese Forum category is read-only, and I wanted to make sure that using Japanese in the Forum would not result in banning.

Also, there is a zone chat for each language in the game, is this monitored by someone who can speak that language? Is it just the AI or a list of banned words?

Yes, if you click that, you'll just be redirected to the read-only subforum of the English forum:

    g07ttby4j9ds.png

The only real other-language forums similar to the English one are Russian, Spanish, German, French.
Chinese and Japanese will link to the read-only section of the English forum.
English US and English INTL make no difference, the links lead to the same forum, this one.

I don't think these chats are monitored by people. Word list only.
