Fatecarver 8% damage BUFF

Why?

This is probably the #1 skill talked about that every single class will subclass into for damage.

The cost increase and 6 target cap doesn’t make this skill less meta. Why a damage buff!!?? If anything it needed an 8% nerf.

With sustain nerfed across the board and all the other body blows taken by arcanist in this patch I do not think you need to worry about it.

Never mind that, I like how I could melt every enemy on screen, now it can only hit up to 6 targets, that will feel junky as hell.

40% cost increase + hit cap is a big nerf

Groups were having less and less sustain options for DDs because Arcanists were trying to have as little stamina as possible for Coral Riptide. With this they'll just roll back on that, maybe switch to sustain food, more potions, etc. Or switch to something like Ansuul/Null Arca and not care about low stamina at all. I'm worried this might be a not needed damage buff overall

There will likely need to be sacrifices made to sustain a 40% cost increase, either from the Arcanist personally or from support roles. And those sacrifices will probably result in an 8% or more DPS loss.

Nvm I just saw a 145K arc with relentless focus and GLS backbarred, banner, and all arc skills otherwise. Oh and incap FB.

My thought with fatecarver is that it should not be buffed, no sustain increase, but make it do 100% of the damage to one enemy and half damage to everything else.

With that kind of dps we getting, we might get U35 all over again. Unless they decide to raise hp of everything.

Some of the high DPS is due to bugs. It won't be 300K parses on live.

Seriously I keep thinking about it, with every other class feeling like a**, my only joy coming back was melting everything on the screen with the laser. Please rethink this @ZOS_Kevin It's not about killing or having a hard time (you know I advocate for harder content) but limiting this ability to 6 targets will feel extremely bad.

It was probably nerfed because of PVE.

Even ignoring the bugged solar barrage, people using Arcanist are getting legitimate 170k parses using NB and Necro DPS lines

While I am for subclassing that is ridiculous q

idk, you write 'ridiculous' I read 'fun'.

Ultimately for many of us the parse dummy is not the be-all/end-all because when we are doing HMs (specially post KA) is the mechanics that hold us back, not the DPS.

You could give me 300k DPS in the dummy and Bahsei HM would still be **** for me.

So I'm all up for having a bit of fun for a change. Yet to be seen if they will actually allow us to have it.

Is week 1, by week 4 it could be all upside down.

I mean we knew dps was going to go up a lot when you add two additional dps lines to any class.

The issue is Fatecarver and that it got a buff even though we knew it would be a standout ability along with Jesus beam!

It wouldn't. You can easily burn her and skip all portals. Even now groups managed to skip all but 2 portals.

You just have to take care for curses, everything else is just parsing then.

Arcanist still needs balancing to be more in line with the other classes. I would like to see endgame not dominated only by green beams some day

ZOS already did something about that.

We have blue (da ba di da ba da) beams now.

It also got ultra nerfed with a huge cost increase and cap on targets. It needed the compensation buffs.

Having done the new trial last night I'm requiring prag fatecarver for all my runs at least until we get the trial HMs figured out a bit more. It's buffed by scholarship, grim focus, and gravelord's sacrifice so it's hitting really hard.

Nerfs on paper (banner etc changes) did not translate to live. I had some sustain issues but that's because I kept forgetting to use my pot.

This is the kind of change that appears to be not thought out at all. These kinds of changes are why I get so jumpy when I hear about ZOS making any kinds of major changes to the game these days. I'm scared for the future of ESO in both PvP and PvE modes now. Please just don't make some of these radical changes that are making the game unrecognizable from what it was at release.

No it didn’t. The cost increase isn’t enough as the cost was already very low and sustain isn’t really an issue in general. It needed nerfs.

I think it would have been better to just add the extra cost and target limit without buffing the damage. The buff is just not necessary given that the "nerfs" are barely an inconvenience. My arc won't have to change a thing to adapt to this change. Having to use more than a single beam for larger groups is completely fair.
