ZOS....

If there was a mechanic in the game that deliberately allowed a player, or players to prevent another player from doing something, or rather denying another player from doing something, would you fix it?

I ask because I found something.

When you loot a node, say an node for cloth material, sometimes there are other things as well in the node. Specifically, there are sometimes worms in the node with cloth material. (jute, flax, etc.).

I have found you can loot only the cloth material and leave the worms. But the node remains.

I have also found that several players are doing just this, deliberately, and finding it to be quite a hoot, as they boast about it in the chat log.

Besides being hilarious, it can prevent a player who is focusing on cloth armor from collecting said materials.

Does this concern you ZOS?

What do my fellow players think?

Hope you screenshotted and reported those boasting.

That needs a fix for sure

Which is why nodes need to be player instanced. I have yet to see this however I suggest deleting this post and informing zenimax via in game bug reporting or feedback

Sometimes though you just don't have bag space and don't care to delete something to make room for worms. You can't really grief anyone gathering in this game due to the instancing. Just log out and back in and a person doing that might as well not even exist. You can gather right outside Daggerfall which would be virtually impossible without the instancing.l

There are times that I only take one of the items from harvesting Jute because of space so it happens. However I do run across nodes sometimes with the bit I'm looking for missing but I don't let it bother me, just loot it if I have space and move along. It's not a big deal really since there are soooo many nodes out there.
The only negative experience in ESO is those that make it negative.

I usually leave the fish bait too. But that's just because I'm not into fishing. That being said. There have been several occasions where I found a node and all there was is fish bait.

I came across nodes like that as well from time to time , but i don't really mind at all.
If its junk and bait , i collect and delete it from my inventory so the node can spawn again , when i come back from doing a quest . I focus on completing every quest that i can find in every area that i visit , so i don't miss out on the skill points that are given out as rewards from some of the quests.
By doing this , at the end of the map i have about 3 full stacks of refined wood and clothing mats at the end of the map. So i would suggest that you not focus solely on crafting , more on questing and gathering mats along the way , you will get so much , that you have to sell some stacks when you move on from that certain area, that is unless you decide to make stuff for selling , but i don't see that are profitable , since the greens and blues are dropping alot , and for the most part , at the moment , while leveling , you don't really need BIS gear .
For me , as long as i can make my own robes and head pieces ( the rest of the items can be of white quality of apropriate level ) and staves that have green quality , then i am a happy camper. Later on , at end game , i will focus on more farming mats , but again , just killing mobs and gathering the nodes along the way yelds more than enough mats , since all the cloth and staves in the game can be destroyed and you get refined mats from those as well

In other MMOs the node repops after a time if the main ingredient has been removed. Devs? It's a good idea. I don't mind too much because my good friend fishes and needs all the bait I can send her way.

I've also come across nodes that just seem to disappear after the harvesting animation. Not sure if this is related or not. It's mildly annoying.

Aside from the grief-ing, it's broken anyway. No-one wants the damn worms.

plump worms are actually used for absolutely overpowered epic food... nah but really if you get a node with just worms, just bear with it and grab the worms so the node actually despawns.

I don't see how this is "griefing" or anything, but having worms in gathered herbs/cloth is really stupid. Inventory management is annoying enough without constantly getting worthless items in my inventory that I have to manually delete every minute

So they aren't impeding you at all. They aren't stealing your mats in any fashion, they aren't robbing your bank. So what exactly are they doing that effects you? Is missing out on a node here or there really causing a massive delay in your crafting endeavor that you came here to complain about it?

Yet another reason harvest nodes should be personal, not shared.
Like how... you know... corpse loot already is. :)

I'm not for or against this mechanic. However, since I've noticed a lot of hackers teleporting from node to node while being invisible (you can't see a character but if you are close enough and manage to hover you're crosshair over them, you'll see one of those jibberish names like "ghughu" or "opgbbd"). So in low level areas I just loot the craft material and leave the junk just to screw over the hackers, it screws over players too, but oh well.

@DukeofChutney: I don't believe I was complaining in the least. I was making other players and ZOS aware of a minor flaw that can be detrimental to anybody wanting to level their cloth craft skill quickly. Besides, I'm pretty sure...

yep there it is, IN WRITING, that I find it pretty "hilarious". You should see the chat logs light up like the fourth with endless rage when nearly every single jute node visible has only worms in it.

Simple solution the items should loot from worms, through to the herb last of all. If the worms don't stack nothing else stacks. Items can always be destroyed.

Sigh nodes. If it's not watching a warping player beat you too it and disappear, or one disappear completely right in front of you, or another player loot it while you kill the surrounding mobs, now we have to worry about nasty lasty items being left on them. Should just be personal loot but Rarer, like GW2. I've literally looted a node, looted something nearby, turned around and the first thing I looted was back up. Definitely needs some work in this department.

From my experience this has definitely been an anomaly for me. I can only think to a handful of times I've looted just worms and that was mostly in the first zone. Plus, only some of the cloth fiber nodes have worms, so I can only see this being partially annoying if your peer player base is feeling particularly trolly that day.

If it gives you any consolation, I use auto loot so I make sure I pick up everything from that node (:
