Does Minor/Major Brittle allow you to overcap Critical Chance?

Wondering if the 125% critical damage cap can be surpassed with Minor/Major Brittle.

Also, is the added critical damage multiplicative against the Critical damage, or additive from the base damage?

crit dmg is hardcapped at 125%

if your already 125% crit dmg without brittle, adding brittle wont further increase your dmg

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

    For PvE, this is correct.
For PvP, this is incorrect because crit resist is subtracted before the hard cap is applied.

In PvP, the formula is Min(125%, Total Crit Damage - Crit Resist).

If you have 140% crit damage with Brittle and they have 20% crit resist, then you deal 120% crit damage. (not 105%)

the hard cap still applies, but in this case theres additional variables to the equation (crit resist) that would just keep you under the cap

its actually probably the same formula for pve, just enemies in pve always have 0 crit resist

It depends. The hard cap applies, but there is a benefit to having brittle anyways.

Especially in hard content it is not a given to have 100% uptime. Having brittle as a redundancy can be good in case your sources for the regular 125% are struggling with the 100% uptime.
What you need to look at is rotations and how much you loose when running a brittle skill in addition vs another dps skill, for example.

Not every Magicka DPS can wear 7 pieces of medium armor. They might need the brittle to get to 125%.

It depends also on the fight. When the healer becomes hard pressed with healing (in difficult execute phases, for example), the buffs become a secondary priority.
If anyone here says: OH! But, PVP! I swear I'll ...

Thank you for the valuable input and respectfully recommend to discuss that aspect of ESO on the PVP forum.
