Turn off skill styling?

Can we turn off skill styling for both allies and enemies in pvp?

The combat is already very flashy and skill styling only makes it worse. Even the health bar color changes and sometimes I cant tell if someone is friend or foe.

The indigo color used for players that can't be healed (Pale Order ring, Vamp skills, etc) is way too similar to the dark blue used for your group, indeed making it hard to tell friend from foe in PvP. Skill styles are fine though, if gamers can handle shiny pokemon, they can handle blue DKs.

Skill styling just seems like more dev time put into something the players didn't ask for and negatively impacts performance and aesthetics. It wasn't needed and doesn't significantly improve the ESO gaming experience in ways that matter fundamentally; at a time when ZOS really needs to be looking at fixing core combat issues and balance.

Even though I do not particularly like the currently available style options, I really like the system. There are some abilities that are in dire need of an overhaul and since plain reworks have not worked out well in the past, I think the styling system is an optimal solution.
Although an option to reduce particle effects in general wouldn't be the worst the thing.

    Agree.
Skill styles are just another pointless cosmetic addition to the game and I would like to be able to not see them. All of the cosmetic flashes going on hide combat cues and I don't know what the heck is going on. It bemoans me to have to learn what the various possible cosmetic effects indicate and, quite frankly, I am not interested anymore!

Skill styles are one of the coolest things they have added to the game in years. Maybe they just need to tone down some of the colors so they aren’t so bright, but other than that I have no idea how you can legitimately complain about them because all they are is alternate colors for abilities. I guess a few have additional effects like the icy stampede. But this game needs more aesthetic customization, not less!

Actually I wholly disagree with this thread. There may be problems and issues, but this ain’t it.

I came back from a hiatus and in my first trial raid idk what the heck was going on with all the colors on the ground. I didn't know good from bad aoe

If you’ve forgotten, you can double check them in the settings. But the default ones are bad - red and good- green. Both AOEs.

There are no skill styles that modify colors of any aoes to green or red. There is however, arcanist aoes that are green. But those have been in the game and are not affected by skill styles. But you mate have not known if you haven’t played while arc was released.

I'd like the option to turn them off. Same with some of the customized actions. The molah baul onebis just irritating with so many people running it and that purple light one is blinding. Don't want to see or hear either one.

OH SO THAT WHAT IT MEANS

I've seen so many allies in both Dungeons and PvP that I couldn't heal, and for the life of me I couldn't figure out why.
I know of the Vamp skill, but I didn't know how it looks like to your allies.

Yeah, definetly make it more distinguishable, like more purple-ish dark blue (basically more in hue of vampire skills)

I agree that they should be toggleable in PVP but no way is this something players haven't asked for. ESO has players of all kinds and reasons, but I would bet anything that the strong majority are from the TES roleplaying side, and skill styling is great for delivering the right character fantasies. I've been playing since 2016 and I've seen this requested more times than I can count; but, to be fair, I only really spend time in TES roleplay circles.
