I need good tipps on Sea-Serpent gameplay

So, I rerolled my Magicka Warden from a Oakensoul HA setup to a Frost damage setup. This is for SOLO PvE. Solo World Bosses, Dungeons and Arenas, mostly newer DLCs.

My setup includes Sea-Serpents-Coil, because it is the best source for Major Berserk for a Staff wielder.
I just didn't expect it to have such bad uptimes within Boss fights (<50%).

I'd appeciate any tipps and recommendations on how to play with it and get a higher uptime.

I assume you're using a companion with taunting abilities that means you occasionally won't take damage for long periods of time.

So...

Go vampire and slot an ability that deals health damage to yourself to force a trigger as part of your rotation?

If you're using any shield abilities that prevent damage done to your HP, maybe let a hit in while unshielded now and then?

Ooh ... Does the Coil proc from abilities with health cost?

No clue, haven't tried it myself, but it doesn't specify that you need to take damage from an opponent. (Just that you are in combat and take damage while at full health).
