Hello forum friends:Anyone else experiencing event burnout?

Not really, but that's because I barely bother with ESO events since I have little interest in doing existing content for RNG reward boxes and event tickets for a small selection of rewards that I also have zero interest in usually.

    Not particularly.
When I was new and all the events were new to me I was participating a lot. Now I just do what I like doing and skip the rest.

I just gave up on collecting all the rewards, especially after that Summerset geyser disaster.
Nowadays I just collect my tickets and the golden box and don't farm any more boxes.

When I get a bit tired, I just do the necessary to pick up the tickets skipping everything else.
Regarding the stuff you might "loose", a vast majority of the items (or all of them, in some cases) can be picked up from traders.

I do, all the time.... all the old zones and new - for surveys and antiquities, getting wayshrines and skyshards for lowbies.... just to sightsee....

I like that there are a lot of events during the year. I just wish i could buy anything from that year on the impresario.

I don't want the house for this event. I just want the body markings and personality... but i can't have those... need to wait and wait.

I think the problem is almost every single event feels incredibly formulaic and they don't really change much.

Jester's, New Life, Witches etc might get some minor variations every cycle such as a new boss or quest, but anything zone related feels stagnant. Kill a WB or do a delve for boxes and tickets, get some increased resource drops from the zone, etc.

Rewards aren't particularly interesting, some overland gear and vendor junk, a furnishing plan on occasion, maybe some new style pages and then whatever new pet/skin/mount the Impresario is offering for tickets, that doesn't really change either.

I mostly just do one daily quest for tickets and then do something else. It's not particularly engaging.

What's funny is, I find myself playing other MMOs significantly more during events compared to ESO where events don't make me play anymore than usual, and sometimes, they make me play even less if Zenimax does something that turns me off of the game like RNG rewards with grossly low drop rates that you just have to farm mindlessly and endlessly. But the reason I play those other games aren't because of the rewards.... it's usually because I like the event specific content/features they bring to the game that actually impact your gameplay during that time.

GW2 is the prime example with tons of minigames during their events. My favorite is the snowball fight battleground during the winter holidays, for example, and some of the event specific boss fights.
WoW I love to play during events because of how they impact the world. It really feels festive in that game and every holiday is different from Brewfest with a whole festival of drunken nonsense to Hallow's End with the Headless Horseman burning down towns that you have to save.
New World's are a bit more minimal compared to those two and the event boss fights aren't as engaging as the ones in GW2, but they're arguably the most beneficial with an increase and buffs to specific craft/gathering skills during the events, and aren't restricted to some RNG nonsense or a tediously mind-numbing chore(s) to do everyday during the event.

And I understand that ESO events can be a great time to stack up on mats, recipes, and etc for a big gold break at the end.... but like another has said, it's not particularly engaging, and I'd rather pass usually.

No, quite the opposite. Events provide more stuff, reducing grind. The non-event times are more conducive to burnout, due to having more grind (example: Dreadsail Reef has to be completed once per set weapon to get a full collection, the current event reduces that to once per every 2 set weapons).

Continuous events are a thing in many mature MMORPGs, no matter how they do them.

No, I'm not experiencing event burnout. I enjoy events and find myself participating / playing more during an event.

That said, I would prefer shorter events, more of them, and more variety. This is something I say a lot on here, but I'll say it again: given the vastness of the asset, the repetition in daily & weekly endeavours and events is honestly astonishing to me. It's the same with login rewards.

For the love of Meridia (the one true god) please mix it up a bit.

I do the one vent quest to get tickets. And maybe one delve. The nodes may be double, but there are so few of them in the zone it is much better to go to Khenarthi's or Bleakrock.

And if I miss doing one I guess it's one less repair kit in the inventory.

I know yes, I can refrain from participating in these events BUT if I do that, I will miss out on tickets and style pages and furnishing recipes etc.

Only 1 quest needs to be done to get tickets. All other items can be purchased with gold through guild traders.

You’re not alone, I’m sure you’ll have the same bots that plague this forum telling you that events are optional, and that cosmetics are not important… but this is an RPG.

Putting unique cosmetics behind these rapid fire events forced you to play the game the way our community managers have planned, instead of the way we want.

Now for why cosmetics are essential in ESO…

Cosmetics are the entirety of roleplay, they establish your identity and set you apart within the world. Having FOMO as your marketing tactic, and then vaulting the few earnable rewards available for half a decade does nothing but coerce your community to participate.

Personally I haven't done an event since the ten year anniversary event at the begging of the year. Like many this almost broke me. IMO I think your synopsis is spot on. :'(

Events were fun during the year of their introduction, when they were new. After that, it's the same absolutely braindead stuff you've seen already with minor differences over and over again for a new carrot on a stick to keep you logging to do something in the game.
Also, the sheer amount of events (especially low-effort ones like "do the daily in a zone for 2 tickets") makes them less special, like literally, so-called events take about half of days in a year, if you're vulnerable to FOMO, it's a guaranteed way to burn out, because there is absolutely nothing interesting about these events.

Participation in events on my part are rather varied. This event was fun but I dread the fake hilarity of the Jesters event, it takes the cake of mediocrity.

There is little incentive to repeat participation in events as they are, as noted by other posters, very repetitive and follow a strict formula. After experiencing very little variation in event content or structure I now get my daily tickets, buy some useless (to me) stuff and try to end up with 10 ~ 12 tickets at event end, ie the bare minimum.

I hope to be pleasantly surprised in the not too distant future with some variations in these events.

The zone events with dungeons attached are great for sticker book filling. I have 2 more dungeons to run tonight and will have completed the 4 sets available. Only a few motif pages left as well so perhaps a shopping trip while waiting for ques to pop.

For this event in particularly I did all 3 zone quests in Galen up to Saturday as I needed to clean up the 30 of each achievement, now I just turn in 1 a day for the rest of the event

I wish there could be another event where we get perfected drops on normal Cloudrest weekly quests (I know, I know, it was a bug, but for me, it was an event that I did not take advantage of enough at all and now regret that!). 😂

I don't get event burnout, but that's because I barely participate in events. If there's something I want and it's not too much hassle I'll go for it but that's it. For example in the recent High Isle event I did 1 world boss quest per day for tickets, and didn't even do that every day (although that was more because real life interfeared, but that still means I wasn't prioritising the event).

I did the first golden pursuit because the only thing I had to go out of my way to do was 1 dungeon run and that didn't take long. I'm not planning to do the next one because I don't like bear mounts, or those weird blobby 'reef' mounts, so I definitely don't want that one.

The one exception is when an event actually has it's own unique quests or activities, then I'll make sure I do each of them at least once, but that's pretty rare. I think it's only New Life, the Jester's Festival and now the Witches Festival which have those, most are just extra rewards added into normal activities.
