Hey, Stained Glass of Lunar Phases drops from dragons in North Elsweyr. (the first place has so far Apocryphal Well, but this Lead from dragons is pretty close...)

Yesterday I killed dragons from about 8AM to about 7PM, I killed a total of 43 dragons and no Leads. I've read variously that people have experiences of Lead dropping them after 100 dragons etc. Like WTF is this?

Who on earth thought this up and why? Lock Lead with such a small chance to drop under dragons?
This isn't a WB with I don't know 3mil HP, but a dragon with 17mil HP and killing it isn't a matter of moments...

Also, this isn't a crowded zone anymore and there aren't 10 people at the dragons.
In the early evening (EU) you can meet here sometimes about 4 people but if unfortunately the player plays in the morning or slightly in the afternoon so there is usually no one here.

I made a mix of my normal build with the tank build so I can kill the dragon as a solo and if no one joins it takes me around 20minutes + super small chances of Lead drop is sheer insanity from the developers to have this in the game!
Yes if 1, 2 or more people join the dragon is down faster but this is not always the case...

Also, who has experience with killing dragons, is there any way to restrict the dragon go to air and doing its "flight mechanics"?
When I kill the dragon myself I have a problem with a sort of grave appearing on the ground and mobs and fire golems spawning from it.
I can deal with everything without any problems but as soon as this occurs with the grave I have a big problem so is there any way to limit/prevent this or something? Does anyone know please?

Anyway, to be honest, things like this are really bad in my opinion and definitely not player freindly.
It seems more like just to keep the player spending as much time in the game as possible, i.e. artificial content or whatever you want to call it.

I have now set my limit at which I am done with ESO:
I'm buying Telvanni Peninsula and Apocrypha maps off the market and putting them away.
Early 2025 is supposed to be an event where there will be increased chances of dropping Leads from treasure maps so once the event starts I'll start opening map chests and see if I can put together a 9/9 codex for Apocryphal Well. (I'm currently at 4/9 and the gold Lead from the map was some 170 maps ago...)
For the event I will have a total of around 400 maps and if even that is not enough (+increased chance due to the event) to put together a 9/9 codex I'm done.
I like Antiquities and collecting Leads, I don't mind some reasonable grind but some Leads (locations/drop chances) are completely out of reason and I can't imagine the person behind the design..

If I remember correctly, that lead can also drop from Southern Elsweyr dragons, a lot more people fight dragons there because zone is smaller and easier to reach the fight zone.

Nevermind, southern dragons drop statue lead.

Your so right, the idea works well when the zone is busy but unless there is an event then once the majority move on the lead becomes an absolute grind fest and thats if you can solo a dragon which a lot either can't or are not gonna spend 20 minutes doing it when as you said you have to kill so many just for even a chance of the drop.

I'd like to see mini events where maybe just for a weekend they would revisit old zones, no event tickets just maybe double XP and gold to encourage players back into the zone for those zones that don't get a normal event each year. I am still trying to kill dragons myself and like you said, quite often on PS-EU there is no one else around, I can just about solo them but it is so time consuming I don't bother and do something else instead.

Huh. I killed one dragon in the past 6 months, it was earlier this week because it was on top of the enchanting survey I wanted to collect.

I got the lead. I didn't even know it was new.

It's not new. It's been out since antiquities were released.

I got it once, but I still need 2 more for the codex entries.

Some guilds have weekly dragon-killing events. That might be a way to do it in a more chill manner.

I think it would be appropriate to at least adjust the drop rate for certain Leads in older zones that are not as populated as they once were...

    Agreed.
On PS-NA, I have all the leads, because I was playing when antiquities dropped.
I started on PS-EU about a year ago, and wow, some of the leads I will never, ever get. The ones that drop from dragons, from the WWB in the Deadlands, from other sources I can't solo on a low-CP toon, and no one ever does any more.
I'm going to farm the WWB in Galen this weekend, because events are literally the only time that boss is ever fought.

ZoS, please adjust the RNG percentage on old leads. that way, if we ask guildies to farm with us, there's a reasonable chance the lead will actually drop.

My only suggestion is: avoid Gray Dragons. Out of the various dragons types, the gray one is the most tedious and difficult; it should be the only one that spawns that grave. The others are way easier to solo, but that thing... Boy oh boy, it's definitely one of the worst things to solo in the whole game.

I was going to point out that some players probably get the lead on their first attempt. That is RNG working as designed.

Forming guild groups is an excellent suggestion for tackling group fights in older zones. I used to do this to help guild members clear the group delvs, bosses, and such in zones.

Yes, mainly just things where more players are needed the drop rate should be at a reasonable level..

I'm glad there are more people interested in Antiquities and that they have similar experiences too, actually I'd like to know what the attitude of the devs is. Are they happy and not planning any changes? Or are they planning some changes? I understand that Antiquities probably won't be a priority in ESO but some changes here would definitely be beneficial in my opinion. The event that is due in early 2025 is a good step so I just hope that's not all.

Yeah: Red is fire, White is ice, Black is thunder and Gray is necromancy.
Subtle difference in color between black and gray, but way more pronounced difference in difficulty XD

The others do similar mechanics but I know for sure the one you are referring to is the gray one - it's painful.
But the true pain is beating lead's RNG.

    You're welcome, good luck!

So yesterday I had a fight with every type of dragon and unfortunately the "grave" mechanic can happen with every type, even in a few encounters vs red did this mechanic twice during one fight.
So it's probably random and every dragon can do it. :-/

There are different dragon shouts for each add wave mechanic so it makes sense that all of them could do it.

In my experience, red dragons spawn "a grave", kinda, but it's not the same as the gray ones. At least I found the red ones way easier than the gray one.
But mine it's anecdotal evidence, could be just me... But I never had problems with red dragons, even when spawning those adds, while gray ones give me a headache.

I was having a horrible time with leads and then Zodiarkslayer shared this post and advice...
    !!IMPORTANT!!!
Check, if you have an active Lead, that ALSO drops in Bad Man's Hollow. It could be preventing additional drops of leads, if they share the same loot table.
I am specifically thinking about the Band of Water, a Lead for the Ring of the Wild Hunt. But honestly, every Lead that drops in Glenumbra could be a culprit.

RnG as bad as described by OP is far from normal and strongly indicates a mechanic that prevents dropping.
And it has been theorised that there is are hidden boosts to RnG the fewer active Leads there are in your inventory. Obviously that cannot be proven and so I mark it as theory. But it has been observed many times, that if you have no luck with a drop and then sweep your inventory (only the default green treasure leads are active), you will have the lead in question within a few tries.

I cleared all of my active leads and completed 4 mythics in under 2 hours that had been stuck for a few years. Maybe give this a shot or take a look and see if it helps? Good luck, I know it's frustrating, you'll get it!

    I confess I haven't tried this.
The thing is that when this mechanic occurs I have the experience that by the time the colossus spawns the dragon is already back on the ground and then I don't know how moving off the platform would work (so I don't lose combat aggro from dragon).

What has worked for me so far is that once the dragon is down I just run around dragon, the mobs from the grave run after me and are practically close to the dragon and I attack the dragon and since I'm playing HA build so the dmg spreads to the mobs that are chasing me so I gradually kill them that way.
I just have to keep an eye on what the dragon and colosus are doing, so sometimes block or roll dodge but this is how it works out for me so far.

Of course I'm talking about if I'm alone with the dragon. When there's more people there it's totally different and easy.

What I enjoy about ESO (most of it) is the Antiquities Codex.
I don't mind the grind, I've written this a few times but if a Lead is locked under something like a dragon with 15mil hp or some Lead in a trial then getting those Leads should be easier than Leads from for example harvesting nodes/Delve etc in my opinion because you need more people for activities like Trials or dragons (or at least they are not designed for solo) and killing a dragon or going through a trial takes longer than killing a delve boss for example.

I'm currently at 94 dragons killed and I don't have a Lead, this is just wrong in my opinion.

I'll see in time and if I stop enjoying the game and I'm more annoyed than pleased with the game I'll cancel my subscription and stop playing. I'm not that far in yet, but...

    Yeah, I read also this.
Like I have about 10 maybe 15 undig Leads (mostly purple) from other zones where I already have 3/3. I can try digging them up to see if that makes a difference.
    Thanks.
