Clarification on being removed from instance when removed from group

Last night, I was kicked from a trial, but fortunately was able to stay in the instance without a removal timer, help defeat the final boss, and turn in the quest.
What I am used to is that being removed from a group removes me from an instance in 2 minutes, which happens in group dungeons as well as if people group and leave group in a delve. Have things changed so people can't deprive others of loot by kicking them from groups, or did I encounter a lucky glitch?

✭✭✭✭✭If you ported into the trial manually as in travel to it you will never be removed. Same if travel to player in instance.
You are only removed if you use the group finder.Grinding just make you go in circles.
