Greetings from a fashion fancier and long hair lover.
Much as I appreciate the depth and breadth of customisation options already available in the game, I feel like the perfect hairdo is still missing (and there are several that come infuriatingly close, yet still miss the mark!). Furthermore, the lack of long styles for male characters is sad, even if my chararacters are mostly female – long locks belong to the boys too!
So it would be lovely to get just one more great-looking long, open style... or maybe two: one dressy, and possibly an additional one that is more casual.
Below, then, is my personal critique of the existing long styles and why they are not it. (Excluded styles which are simply too short, dreads/braids/ponytails/buns/updos/etc.)

"Barbaric windblown hair": very nearly there.
This is a very nice style in the casual department. Has length and especially volume, and boys can wear it too. The only problem is that it conceals the ears, along with any ear adornments, and those special pointy ears that bretons may have. It's also not dressy. It is, however, the designated style of my snow elf prince, so that's saying something.
"Coil with long fall": very nearly there.
This style has a lot going for it: both boys and girls can wear it, it shows those precious elf ear tips even on bretons, and as the name says, it has a lovely long fall. It's also sufficiently dressy for my tastes. However, the tight fit around the head is less than natural. This could be the perfect do if it just had some air around the roots!
"Dominion war-locks": almost there.
I love the idea of this style, with the detail at the back of the head. Gender-agnostic and full pointy ears support. The hairline and fit around the head are also pretty naturally shaped. However, it's not SUPER long... and it has a SUPER tall forehead. I want to love it, but it doesn't work on most faces, and it doesn't fully satisfy my long hair urges.
"Draping locks": OMG YES, but actually no.
This style was a very welcome addition, and around the face it looks really nice and actual hair-like. Ear-approved and gender-neutral! It's not dressy, but I might go casual for such a nice long look... except you mostly see your character from behind, and that's where this style stops working. Not only is it choppy-looking at the back, it's also oddly shorter at the back than the front.
"Left-parted cropped": It's okay.
This is a pretty okay-looking head of hair. It's got length and it falls naturally enough. But boys can't wear it, and it doesn't show the ears, and it's not a
do. It's just hair. Nothing wrong with that, but not what I'm looking for, either.
"Long curly crown braid": Why is it so short
This is nice hair. "The crown" part is a bit unnatural at the front but so what, it's altogether pretty decent. The curly action provides lift, the hairline is okay, full ear exposure, dressy look. And that's where it ends
literally, the hair just ends. If only the fall were twice longer and fuller, this hair and I would be best friends. Apart from my snow elf prince, because him being a boy, he couldn't wear it even if he wanted to.
"Pulled back curl cluster": This hair is really nice even if it is short. But yeah, it's short
I left out every other style that I think is just too short, but wanted to include this one because it's such a nice hairstyle, despite being short. If we only could have this style but with a long and full fall... oooooh, that would be the hair to end all hair!
"Topknow cascade": I think it was designed for boys and that's cool!
This hair is handsome. It shows the ears and agrees to work with boys and girls both. However, it's choppy/clippy at the back, not ultra long, and has a really aggressively square hairline. It was probably made that way on purpose to be masculine even though it's long and dressy. No problem with that, but sadly it doesn't solve my problem.

If you read this far you must love hair. I know I do!
