its terrible if its really been 2 years and this has not been fixed.
Got one shotted by a heavy attack build.

I did not even engage the player in Imperial City but I was instantly 1 shotted by trifocus when I attempted to join in on the roaming boss kill.

After talking to the guy he says he has 60k heavy attacks.

I find it funny that NPCs with massive resistances/damage reduction such as Ascendant Vanguard while in lIghtning Form do not suffer from this problem. They do reduce the tri-focus damage if they're hit by the AOE lol

I think it is a bit of a tricky one to work with battlespirit.

Essentially, the tri-focus damage is determined based on the actual target of the heavy attack.

So a heavy attack against a player is already taking battlespirit into account.

What the problem is, is when a heavy attack is used against an NPC. Since battlespirit does not apply to them.

So, you can't just add battle spirit directly to Tri-Focus damage without essentially double dipping battlespirit on Tri-focus with heavy attacks against players.

Now, an "easy" solution, would be to blanket apply battlespirit against ALL enemies in a pvp zone, player or NPC, and then just halve the health of all NPCs in the pvp zones to keep the damage against NPCs relatively the same, but still reduce overall damage output.

pretty sure it has always been like this lol

they "nerfed" its aoe output last year by making it so the first 2 ticks of the lightning heavy do not get the trifocus splash, essentially halving its overall aoe output

like jaws said, there was never anything to take into account splash dmg from NPCs to players, and if you apply battle spirit to tri focus, its double dipping when your heavy attack is aimed at a player

The dmg received as a player should be halved not the dmg done. thats easy imo.
