5 piece and 1 monster OR 4 piece and 2 monster

Hi, I'm currently updating my hybrid solo DK build. It utilizes greatsword and flame staff.

It used 5 piece Hexos, 5 piece burning spellweave, 1 Maelstom 2h, and 2 Grothdarr.

But I've recently replaced the Hexos with Pale Order ring. And now I'm looking for another DPS set for extra damage.

Right now, my struggle is deciding if I want to sacrifice a 5 piece set and opt for 4 pieces... Just so I can have 2 piece monster set. Or sacrifice a monster piece just to have 5 piece dps set.

This is what I have so far:

Main hand: Maelstrom
Backhand: BSW flame staff
Head: Grothdarr/Zaan heavy
Shoulder: Grothdar/Zaan medium
Chest: ?
Hands: ?
Waist: BSW light
Legs: ?
Feet:?
Necklace: BSW
Ring 1: Pale order
Ring 2: BSW

Alternatively, I could sacrifice the Maelstrom greatsword, but since I use Stampede, I don't know if the trade-off will be worth it...

Anyway, id like to hear your thoughts....

5 piece set + 1 monster set
OR
4 piece set + 2 monster set

The VMA 2H should be on your back bar if you are using it to buff Stampede. You don't need it on your front bar to have the buff. I don't think there is any utility to go with 4 pieces of a 5 piece set unless you are going with Mothers' Sorrow or Leviathan for the crit boosts in a solo build. I'd go with Runecarver over the monster sets

So I've done some research and then some theory crafting. This what I have so far, what I'm thinking of trying:

    - 5 piece BSW
    - 5 piece orders wrath
    - 1 pale order ring
    - 1 piece slimecraw or Kragh

I thought about replacing BSW with Runecarver. But for solo builds, I won't do as much DOTs as pure DPS builds because I'll have some skills needed for survival. So with that DOT loss, would Runecarver still be a better option than BSW?

That looks like a good setup. Runecarver is good if you are going heavy with DOT skills. I use it on a DK with Venomous Claw, Noxious Breath, FOO, Eruption, Stampede, and Carve, so basically all DOT. It works well and is noticeable in the damage increase, but is really only effective with primarily stationary bosses. But if you're not going DOT-heavy, just go with BSW and Order's Wrath.
