Feature request: keen eye for dirt mounds

Can we get a keen eye for dirt mounds please? We already have them for resource nodes, treasure chests, and scryed dig sites. I'm old, they're hard for me to see even standing on top of them and I have more skill points on my main than I'll ever need anyway.

Thanks

The OP is talking about the Dirt Mound that you have to dig up from treasure maps. Those do not glow from the Keen Eye Treasure Chests passive from the Excavation line.

That being said.. I think the search for the dirt mound is part of the immersion intended behind "Searching for buried treasure". I'd rather they didn't make them glowie. But that's just my personal opinion.

There have been a few times I had trouble finding them (most notably recently the one on top of a pile of boulders in West Weald) - but once I've sorted them out, I know where they are ever after. As long as it's something you have to put points into so otherwise you don't see the glow, that would be fine. I don't use the treasure chest or resource nodes glows because I hate glowing things like that, and I know where they all are anyway....

I'd really like to get rid of the glow on Thieves Troves too.

You already have map pin marker for this, if you use add on like Lost Treasure or Map Pin.

Depending if you use Compass (that part of UI that also work as HP indicator for Bosses and show map pins in game world when not having a boss in reticle), mini map or both, then you can see on Compass where you need to go (use it to find direction) and stop when you see that marker is on the other side of you character as you are standing on spot. Mini map help to get an idea of where to ride on your mount, but isn't that price as Compass to pin point location.

There are three places where you have gamma settings, in game, in your video card drivers (Nviida App or AMDs app) and often also on your displays directly. Changing gamma might help to better see in game world where there is a Dirt Mound.

If you really have trouble to find out where you need to go, then there are wiki for ESO which will show an image where that spot is.

    https://www.esoui.com/downloads/info561-LostTreasure.html

    https://www.esoui.com/downloads/info1881-MapPins.html

    For mini map:
    https://www.esoui.com/downloads/info3384-MiniMapbyFyrakinMasteroshi430sbranch.html

This mini map you can set up to be hidden or use key bind for when you only want to see mini map and then hide it or have it hidden during combat etc. In short you can control when you want to see it and how it will look (I prefer to have it rectangular to match my screens aspect ratio instead of circular as it shown in first picture of that add ons site).

I use both Lost Treasure and Map Pin add on and you can toggle which map pin you want to see or hide from map filter (main map) in case they overlap with pins.

As for having a glow to mark spot in game, I think it would make much harder to see dig sites from Antiquities as dig sites already have glow when you have fully upgraded that skill line for Excavation.

Here is wiki (there are several other wiki for ESO if you don't like how this wiki will show Treasure Maps location). This wiki show both map (crude indication from picture that you can open when you have Treasure Map in Inventory in game) and map location.

I agree. Console does not have add-ons. And they are difficult to see. The most annoying part of finding the treasure maps is finding the mounds and this goes double since I do not have good eyesight. The glows make things much less frustrating for me and I'd like them on the mounds as well. I'd like to see it just folded into the glow for treasure chests/dig sites but I'd also take it as a companion perk too. I hope that the devs add it. Those who'd rather not have it can just not use it, hopefully.

Agreed. Treasure maps are so much more difficult for console users or we could just ban add ons like this so PC users could understand the pain of " ok somewhere in this zone is a tree next to a rock and it will have a small dirt mound in the middle of all the other dirt."

    @RexyCat

Good chance the OP does not have map pin markers for this. Only 1/3 of the platforms an use addons. Those on PC have to do things the old fashion way, work for it.

Even with a map marker addon-on there are a few that blend so well into the background you end up walking in circles waiting for the reticle to pick them up.

Yes I know where it is and still it seems to blend in so much. If not glowing could they at least stand out from the background a little more. I spent 10 minutes in the Bal Foyan wayshrine area looking for one. It just blended in so well.

This reminds me of that one dirt mound in Blackwood (Treasure Map 3 or 4) next to a river. The color and outline of the mound blend in perfectly with the surrounding mud, been riding around there for 10 mins before checking out YouTube only to find out I ran past on top of it a few times already (didn't even see Interact option while running past).

Yea so I highly second this. Need one passive to make the dirt mound glow!

Even with the location being marked with an add-on, some of these dirt mounds are very hard to spot. Especially if there is a lot of grass around them.

Yeah this s a good idea. There's a couple I did not too long ago that I couldn't see until I was right o top of them. One in Rivenspire and one in Alik'r.

Yes please. While they are at it would be nice if we could choose the color as well just like in combat colors. Make it an option in the settings for those that don't want it.

Don't see ZOS throwing us a bone like this unfortunately. Just one of those things they expect add-on to fix and screw the console population. Heck they still will not give us a mini map option and zoom on a map is just bad. We have asked for years and been routinely ignored.

    Stay safe 🙂

Maybe a future companion's perk will be keen-eye dirt mounds, a bit like Zerith-Var's keen-eye sacks. One can hope. :)

They could make it an accessibility setting of some type. As I've aged my color sensitivity has decreased. As a result I have trouble discerning different shades of the same color if they are close or mixed in together such as many of the treasure mounds are. I run into problems in some instanced content as well so change my AOE attack telegraph colors to something that is sure to contrast with the background.

That one in West Weald on the boulder (West Weald CE Treasure Map II, I think), I was *standing on top of it* and couldn't see it due to ambient lighting conditions. Only found it due to a youtube video.

This suggestion would be great, esp for those who don't, or can't, use add-ons.

even on PC with the add on marker for the chest location the mound can, sometimes, still be nearly impossible to locate. Most of the time it's pretty easy, but not always. A perk of some kind, preferably NOT linked to a companion, would be a good QoL addition to the game.

That particular one is hard to see simply becaue it's the same color as the stone it's sitting upon.

That one is hard to see because treasure chest embedded in rock is a dumb location.

This is why we need a keen eye for dirt mounds. This one is hidden in tall grass and I only found it by carefully mousing back and forth over the area.

I thought it was bugged inside the stone. I legit cannot see it.
