So what happened to the 10th Anniversary?

I am not one to complain about free stuff like we got earlier this year, but I feel like that is all we got. There is absolutely zero player engagement here with respect to the anniversary event. Unless there is something on Twitter that I am missing because I don’t go there.

Celebrate the game by letting us spend money.... brilliant thinking and definitely seems right up there with the kind of ideas Zenimax would like.
I think I'd rather just log in to WoW and enjoy the in-game festival with mini-games and themed features/content like world bosses, BGs, and dungeons even, that they currently have for their anniversary event.... but y'all enjoy buying those crowns if it happens.

Agreed. I advocated for this a while back. I would drop hundreds probably if they did this. Too much reliance on timed deals.

But they'd get fewer complaints if they'd actually done something appropriate for a Tenth Year Anniversary!!!

Reading the forums brings that into question. lol /s

I pretty much checked out after not being able to get the 'once in a lifetime' motif pages from the Anniversary Event. Not being able to buy them either was a terrible idea, as someone who has played since launch and taken part in every event since, that was horribly disappointing. I haven't even bothered with Gold Road (not sure why I bought it tbh) and the last time I played so little was late 2014/early 2015 when I had pretty much done all the content. I acknowledge that there have been some nice giveaways (and a fair few things I already had lol), but all in all it is not the celebration I was expecting and looking forward to. Just some fun community events, quizzes, treasure hunts anything that brings players together and is FUN would be so welcome regardless of rewards.

In short I knew the whole thing would be grindy to drive up ticket sales and push the Crown Store, but I didn't realise it would be this lacklustre.

    But that's just it....THEY DIDN"T DO ANYTHING

I mean if they said "why bother people will just complain" that just shows contempt for your customer base...

They would have gotten a lot of respect if they just said "Guys...the servers are unstable so we really can't do anything this year..."

    But no...silence...as usual.

    It's disheartening.

Yes, I know about the Server Planemeld and all the other shenanigans, but what happened to the 10-year anniversary? It was going to be a year-long event covering consoles as well, but if someone picked up the game now, they wouldn't even know it was on.

I came into 2024 expecting ZOS to change up this year's events to lean heavily into nostalgia for all the older players and shake up the routine. It would have been nice to bring back some of the old events following the sequence of the expansions:
    Jan/Feb - Core game
    March - Morrowind
    April - Clockwork City
    May - Summerset
    June - Elsweyr
    July - Greymoor
    August - Blackwood
    September - High Isle
    October - Necrom
    Nov/December - Gold Road

It would have been a wonderful trip down memory lane as well as a great experience for newer players. ZOS could have also made all the previous years' rewards (e.g. Indriks) at half the original ticket cost to be accessible to newer players.

We still have more stuff coming between now and June 2025. We're all focused on getting Update 44 out to console and getting bugs fixed. But the Golden Pursuit coming next week is a part of celebrating our 10yr anniversary efforts!

Wait until you see it before you feel bad...

By the way, have I missed something or is this the first confirmation of the start of golden pursuits?

Also, are they part of the anniversary? I thought they were a new permanent feature to replace endeavours.

Jubilee and the PTS crisis happened to the 10th anniversary. I can't speak for others, of course, but I was so burnt out after grinding those event-exclusive style pages and seeing players go against fellow players during the PTS situation there wasn't much of a mood left to feel celebratory. However, the thematic months helped a bit (fond memories of Deadlands August). Now I'm just in a thoughtful mood, as I contemplate having spent 10 years playing this game and hope the direction the devs have chosen for ESO last year (or was it the year before?) doesn't prove disastrous. No, I'm not saying the game is dying, but every end has a beginning...

PS: the freebies are nice, even those I already have. The point is to please as many as possible, not every single person. The high number of walking mummies I've been seeing (as opposed to before this costume showed up at the store for free) appears to indicate the idea is working, at least a bit.

I'd be really surprised if it wasn't permanent. My impression of Golden Pursuits is that they are another form of a Battle Pass type system. Hopefully without the need to buy it with crowns every month.

As the TOS for all online games clearly state very near their beginning, every and anything is subject to change.

If it has the intended effect of forcing players into content they don't enjoy for the sake of shinies, sure, they'd keep doing it.

But it could also have no appreciable effect or even drive players away.

This system is permanent, there were different Golden Pursuits campaigns running on PTS with a different selection of tasks and rewards.

I was thinking about this last night and thought it would be cool for the anniversary if there were Game Masters that would randomly show up in zone and give away free stuff to the first three players who found them or something like that. I don’t think we have ever had them on console though, so we might get left out.

That is what I see as engagement with the player base. It’s probably too much to ask for, though.

If it’s anything like since the beginning of the 10 year anniversary I wouldn’t exactly call myself foolish. Nothing has felt like an 10 year celebration yet and I doubt the next few months is going to be some grand hat trick like wow does with their amazing events. Let’s face it eso events are lame and lackluster.

Yes, that was the most disturbing part of it all. They could have easily made the pages available for tickets for those who had bad RNG/low damage/little time to play... but for some reason, they didn't.

There was a lot of goodwill left on the table in that regard.
