I think it's time to earn and trade CROWNs in ESO

I never imagined how rewarding and enjoyable trading could be until I started playing the new MMO.

Not only can you trade in-game items using currency tied to real money, but you can also get the battle pass free by just playing the game! This adds an extra layer of incentive to keep playing and grinding, even making you want to explore remote places to find new items or catch ads for potential rewards. It would be fantastic if ESO+ could also be purchased with crowns. Whenever I introduce someone to ESO, their initial reaction is often that it’s just an old game. However, when I mention ESO+, it tends to be a dealbreaker for them because they’re hesitant to spend $9 on a subscription.

This could introduce concerns about a pay-to-win scenario. While the system would make gold-tradable weapons and armor more accessible, upgrading them still requires grinding for resources and developing skills, which means investing significant time in the game.

So, let's make crowns tradeable and allow ESO+ to be purchased with crowns as well. And one more thing: please get rid of those crates!

It's too good to be true. I really want this feature, but I don't think ZOS will ever do it. I've bought crowns many times in discord channels or in-game, so this feature would be very useful for me.

Unfortunately, I also had a bad experience. The player selling the crown cheated me, it was very bad and the customer support did not respond. After the incident, I left the game for 2 years. Since then, I don't even buy crowns on any of the "safe" discord channels.

So how would you finance the game then, making the 2 main income sources FFA?

Its working in the other game you are referring to, because you need a massive grind to equip a character (Epic items needs in fact 12 with the right traits - sooner or later most give in and buy. If its working in the long run has still to be shown and I quite doubt it for the Western Markets.

Just like today, ZOS generates funding for the game by selling crowns for real money. For me, ESO offers the best PvP content, and I believe that PvP players are among the most significant contributors to the game's financial support. While PvE players typically enjoy grinding and earning their gear through gameplay, PvP players are often more eager to acquire the best equipment as quickly as possible. As a result, they are more likely to purchase crowns, which they then use to obtain items from others. This cycle allows crown sellers to earn enough for an ESO+ subscription, enjoying premium content in exchange for the time they’ve invested in the game.

You seriously think I can sell my vicious death sword (around 100k gold on market) and my Plaguebreak inferno staff (45k on market) for 5k Crowns to a PVP Enthusiast who paid like 50 EUR for it?

Pls feel free to insert any other set which sale is made more or less obsolet because of stickerbook and curated drops. You hardly get gold for that stuff any more, let alone crowns.

If they use variants of the crown trading that already happens they wouldn't lose the income. One simple solution is to sell a token in the crown store that costs the same number of crowns it gives.

For example sell a token for 1000 crowns that gives 1000 crowns when it's used. Useless to buy and use yourself, but it would allow one player to buy it (with crowns bought with real money or from ESO+) and sell it to another, who uses it to get the crowns. It doesn't create any crowns or gold, just transfers them from one player to another.

Another option is to set up an exchange system like Guild Wars 2 and some other games use, where players can buy crowns with gold directly through the crown store, but those crowns still come from players who sell them for gold and the exchange rate updates dynamically based on demand. That has some added benefits: it's easier for players to use, you don't have to hunt down tokens in guild stores or in chat, and for ZOS it has the advantage that it can act as a gold (or crown) sink, but it's also more complicated to set up than selling a token.

So when you say "earn crowns in game", do you mean "buy them from other players via an in-game interface like GW2 has a gem exchange", not "get crowns out of thin air like you can get coins per day in PokemonGO"?

Those two things are not the same.
