Why are there still no achievements for the treasure maps?

I figure with all the goofy/useless achievements that I've seen, it seems strange that there isn't one for completing all the treasure map hunts. I just recently had an achievement pop up for finding an alchemy survey, and I'm like... ok fine, I guess? And I see it's part of a greater meta achievement to find 30 of them (I think).

Why after all these years do we still not have one for the regular treasure maps? This one seems like a no-brainer to me... They are already numbered and everything. As somewhat of a "checklist" enjoyer it would be nice to be able to know that I've done them all. (It would also greatly increase their economic value with the trading guilds as a side bonus.)

They took away character-specific achievements because of...something. I want those back before they start adding more useless achievements, especially those that I've probably already finished but would show as incomplete because there was no achievement for it at the time.

They recently added those Survey Achievements. Perhaps they will add the Treasure one later.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Gary Gravestink "I am glad you died, I needed the help"

Yes, as I said in my OP.

It's the reason I posted today... it's something I've wondered before but never posted about. Now that I've seen that they are indeed willing to retroactively add achievements for existing mini-games, perhaps they'll do the same for treasure maps?

Yeah but they literally just did exactly this. I've probably completed about 50 of each of those survey reports, but I'm starting at zero for the achievement progress for each one. I don't actually mind, it's another grocery list to complete to scratch that itch in the part of my brain that likes completing lists and getting points for stuff.

oh please - not more recycling of old content with achievements you have completed like 50 times and can start from the scratch

the game has seen more than enough in the last updates

Gods forbid someone try to find ways to have fun in a game they paid to have access to. We don't control what comes out, only how we react to them (myself included).

I do think they should add achievements for treasure maps, despite me probably not going to achieve them, but they can be there for someone else. I only ask that they add more titles to the achievements. There's so many that just give the points, but could give a title too. There's plenty that could be added I'm sure. I remember there being a thread about what titles people would like to see and plenty of people had ideas, so there's really a surplus of titles to be added. And if it would also make earning the more base game achievements a bit more fun to some people, then why not? :)

This is a video game first and foremost, so anything that makes it more entertaining (even if annoying to do old content) while staying within lore is fine to be added and is harmless overall in most cases. Many haven't even done the "old" content, which is old to you, but might be new to someone else.

If someone had fun with treasure Maps why do they need achievemtns attached to do them?

To me its a pain - I accomplished most of the Achievements the game has - missing only some BG, ToT and the harder Trifectas and it annoys me to have something I regard as "finished" reopended.

Like doing 30 useless Writs of Blacksmithing, Woodworking and Enchanting each to have my 100% crafting again. Knowing I did proabably hundreads over the years and nowadays they are simply not worth doing any more.

Edit: I wouldn´t care about a retroactive introduction if they could take into account the 100s or 1000 of TMs I did in those 10 years.

I don't care about achievements. At most they are a way of tracking what you have yet to complete, otherwise pretty meaningless.

But even I was surprised to be told I had achieved the status of "novice flower picker", when my 10 year old main plucked a delicate columbine flower.

Surveys? Yes, over the years I've done a few...

They need a survey achievement total surveys saved at one time.

For the same reason most achievements exist. To give people something to do beyond just doing it. Goals help keep some players interested in the game.

There are some goals locked behind treasure maps such as antiquity codex completion. There is a large amount of RNG associated with that one though, on the newer maps in particular.

They should do this and then make it so that having the achievement for that map allows you to mark it on your map in the future (toggle). Just select acquired maps on the filter.

This way we don't have to dig out our phones every single time or download an add-on.

I want an achievement for Antiquities. A very specific achievement that is retroactive and has a huge most amazing reward. Something that might frustrate players for decades to come like getting an Ogres toe ring frustrated me only much much worse.
An achievement for a perfect dig. Getting the main item and all three of the bonus items without digging anywhere there is an empty space. Oh what fun it will be for others trying for this achievement so they may enjoy the super mega reward for accomplishing the feat! I reward I thankfully will already be enjoying. What fun!

I’m impressed on your account, but that sounds more like torture to me.

Does it really need them a lot of the new achievements, they have been adding lean too heavy in the participation trophy category in my opinion.

To me achievements should be for things you have to go out of your way to accomplish the requirements, what meaning is there in achievements that you can accomplish without even realising you have done them.

    Wha...?

Pretty much in every video game ever in the history of video games, achievements have been participation trophies. There are of course exceptions, ones which give "bragging rights"... but even a lot of those are just zergable in groups, especially on older content after power creep.
