Housing ressources drop rate increased or not?

If I recall correctly housing ressources like heartwood, mundane runes etc. should have been increased in drop rate with this update. Alas, farming now since update as usual, the drop rate seems to be as usual, too.

Anything wrong? Other sources for these ressources were implemented without affecting drop rate? Did I miss something in the announcements?

Only three specific mats had their drop chances increased, per the notes. It wasn’t all furnishing mats.

The old drop rate was 20%. That should still hold true for the ones that weren’t modified

I haven’t had time to test again, but a modest increase may not be noticeable unless you actually record hundreds of pulls.

What I noticed yesterday while running around all over the place was that heartwood and mundane runes dropped (at about the same amounts as normal - that is, 1-3 each) from more of the nodes. Not all of them, but probably around 1.5 times as often, a node would have those as well as the normal mat.

And that's totally anecdotal, and just a "feeling".

The drop rate for Heartwood doubled. Instead of 20% overall (15% chance of 1x, 5% chance of 2x), it's now 40% overall (30% chance of 1x, 10% chance of 2x).

They also fixed resource events so they properly affect Heartwood.

My current rate over 300 nodes for this event is 64%, which is exactly as expected for a normal drop rate of 40%.

The distribution is very close to what would be expected for a 3:1 ratio of 1x:2x within that 40% overall drop rate.

This is anecdotal from just picking up nodes here and there (not dedicated farming) but I see mundane runes and heartwood dropping more often from their respective nodes than before, though I can't quantify by how much, but it's definitely increased.

I agree. I'm still seeing increased rate of drops of both heartwood and mundane runes. And thanks @virtus753 for the real math information!

Mundane Runes are looking similar to Heartwood, although I want to get more data. Their drop rates were the same before the patch, so I'm figuring the devs just doubled both to get the same results.

I'm afraid I don't really have a record of the previous drop rate of Decorative Wax from the container type of "clickables" - if they also mean to include flying harvestables in the "various" descriptor, though, then the drop rate for those doesn't seem to have changed too much. But I'm only 200 pulls in, so I've got more testing to do there for sure.

Oh! I totally forgot that I've been seeing a lot more Dec Wax too! Not sure how much "a lot more" is.... I don't keep records as while I'm playing I'm also juggling a whole lot of real life dreck.... but on par with the increases in heartwood and mundane runes.

I mentioned in another thread that I wasn’t seeing an increase in Craglorn, but while farming in High Isle the last two days I am definitely seeing more (even when taking into account the double drops). I am not sure what is up with Craglorn, either players are taking the heartwood and leaving the ruby ash, or maybe it is not getting increased because of the potential nirncrux drop, though it would seem unlikely.

My other thought was it might be the bots that plague the zone but I am guessing they take all and don’t cherry-pick the nodes like some players might. I tend to get low amounts of all furnishing mats from this zone. Of course this is anecdotal because I don’t have a loot log on console and don’t take the time to write down every node on paper as I go. There is quite a bit of competition for nodes there and I don’t want to miss any.

It’s definitely increased. Personally, I can clearly see it—I don’t remember getting 4 Heartwood from a single node before the patch. And it definitely didn’t drop this often before the patch. But fine, that’s personal experience, which is always subjective. However, if you look at the TTC data, the amount of Heartwood on the market has skyrocketed. It’s hard not to notice an increased drop rate in this.

I ran around an empty Craglorn at night even before the event, and Heartwood was dropping more often than it did before the patch. Maybe your theory about people only taking Heartwood and leaving the wood behind, which results in the next looter not getting any Heartwood, is actually correct.

*Super* quick spot check (120 pulls on live in Craglorn): 37.5% drop rate for Heartwood

I agree with you that it's unlikely there's a nirn tax - there wasn't one before the update. There are also DLC zones with their own mats (e.g. Vvardenfell's Viridian Dust) that don't impact those drop rates in any noticeable amount, in my experience. It also doesn't really make sense to me to have a penalty of only a few percentage points. (On High Isle, for comparison, I'm over 500 wood pulls for the event now, and my rate for Heartwood is 64.81% per node, meaning 40.68% per roll.)

I'm sure there must be someone somewhere in this game taking furnishing mats or other things and leaving the base mats. Unfortunately it's really impossible to know how common it is. Even if you can tell someone else activated a node before you (the base mat doesn't match your character's level or crafting rank), you can't know what was in it before you got there. I have seen it go the other way, where nodes are left with only furnishing mats in them, or with only dust in an ore node (a missed opportunity for that partial looter, given the respective cost of those mats). So I figure it has to happen that people take the furnishing mats only, but only ZOS would be the ones with the actual stats there, if they keep track of that.

I will say that RNG is also very, very streaky. I record every pull by hand, since I'm not sure there's an add-on that would compile all the data I want the way I want it, so I see the numbers change over time as I put in new pulls. Yesterday my RNG was about the worst I've seen it, even when I was testing on PTS to avoid farmers. Today it's better.

I don't think we can derive anything specific from the 37.5%, especially at only 120 pulls - it isn't like we can say that "missing" 2.5% was taken by partial looters, since RNG isn't obligated to keep a perfect drop rate at all times. I think it's more likely some combination of a bit low RNG and perhaps a partial loot here or there.

Have you been running around all of Craglorn to check, or do you usually stick to one spot? It’s hard to believe there’s a group of players going through all of Craglorn just to grab crux and furnishing mats. On the other hand, if you stick to one spot, a single player farming that area could easily leave you with only a 10% drop rate.

Wow, thanks for taking the time to look at this. It seems hard to imagine someone would be taking that much heartwood and leaving the rubedite, but I probably only get about a 10% drop rate there. I really like just running around Craglorn, but I guess if I want furnishing mats I will have to farm somewhere else. What a shame.

I do a one hour run through the whole zone.

I noticed an increased drop of heartwood and mundane runes. With the Breton event going on, that's even more noticeable and more than just a few times I was surprised to find more than 5 of the mat in a node. I enjoy hoarding them, so it shouldn't be hard for me to stop a change in drop rates.
