Unreachable treasure chests

Today while doing the daily delve quest in Wrothgar, I saw a treasure chest on top of some scaffolding in Thukhozod's Sanctum, in a corner of the room where the delve boss is located. Try as I might, I could not figure out a way to reach the treasure chest to loot it. I could jump into the air and get an interaction prompt, but pressing E would not let me try to pick or force the lock and would not even display that screen-- it merely "froze" my character (meaning pressing the spacebar or pressing E or R did absolutely nothing, and I had to move to regain the ability to do anything else). It looked like perhaps we're supposed to be able to jump up onto the scaffolding by leaping up on top of a nearby pillar, but I couldn't get up onto the pillar.

This reminded me of another treasure chest that I came across in Clockwork City, located up on one of those broken "bridges" in or around the Mire Mechanica. Try as I might to find a way up onto the bridge, I could not get up there to reach the chest.

Then there was another treasure chest I remember seeing in the Obsidian Scar in Rivenspire, located up on a ledge in the room with the quest boss. I couldn't find a way up to the chest, but another player came along and finally managed to reach it by climbing up nearby and then streaking over to the ledge where the chest was.

This raises a few questions in my mind.

(1) Did the devs put such treasure chests in difficult-to-reach locations with the intention that any player should be able to loot them if they manage to puzzle out how to reach them?

(2) Or are some treasure chests intended to be reachable only by using some skill which is not necessarily available to all player characters (all classes or whatever), such that if you don't have the required skill or type of skill (gap-closer or whatever) then you will never be able to reach them?

(3) Or did the devs deliberately put some treasure chests in impossible-to-reach locations (even if your character has a gap-closer skill of some kind) just to troll the players by having them drive themselves crazy trying to get a chest that is impossible to get?

Thank you, but your hint tells me nothing I didn't already know.

I can get up on a nearby pillar, as well as climb/walk up a nearby steeply-leaning piece of wood, and even get up on a nearby ledge, but I cannot jump from any of those locations to the level of the scaffolding where the chest was.

My character was a Nightblade, and Teleport Strike would not let me get over there, either, because there is no enemy on the platform that I can target.

I see what looks like a hole in the ceiling over an even higher portion of the scaffolding, but I cannot find any way to enter the walls (such as in the delve in Hew's Bane) and make my way to that hole (if it is indeed a hole).

So my questions are, (1) are characters of any class supposed to be able to reach that chest, or (2) is it supposed to be reachable only by certain classes that can streak over to it without needing an enemy to target, or (3) is it just the devs having a laugh at the players by trolling them with an unobtainable chest?

Do you have a picture of the spot?

Ok it is the same spot. Iirc you should be able to get the chest right under it? Don't have to be on the platform to pick it. It's been a while but I farmed that zone to bits in 2016 for briar.

I think I always picked it from the ground. I just stayed close to the wall to get as high as possible and then I was just able to pick it. They might have moved it a bit afaik.

What's wild are the ones that clearly spawn in an impossible place, such as literally inside of a tree or rock. If you have the passive that make chests glow, you'll sometimes see that glow coming out of such objects or else you might have never known a chest was there.

I always wonder about those. LOL

Well, chests that spawn inside rocks, floors, walls, etc., are bugs. Sometimes you can get the chest to respawn properly so you can loot it, by a combination of leaving the rendered area, doing /reloadui, then going back to the area where the chest is. That might not work in an overland area, but it often does the trick in a group dungeon.

There’s one place in the Blessed Crucible— the boss that’s just before the final boss, in the room where there are some statues— where a treasure chest can spawn inside the floor or inside the raised niches in either side of the steps which go to the final boss. When that happens, I backtrack a bit through the previous room and beyond, then /reloadui, then go back to the room with the chest in it, and usually the chest will have rendered as it was supposed to so I can loot it.

But the one chest I mentioned in Obsidian Scar seemed to require a streak or teleport ability to zip over to the ledge with the chest on it. I figure the chest I saw in Thukhozod's Sanctum was similar, but my Nightblade’s gap-closing ability wouldn’t work without an actual enemy to target, which is why I was wondering if some chests can be reached only by using certain skills not available to every class.

I’m sure some chests are placed in difficult spots so players need to puzzle out how to reach them, similar to a lot of the sky shards. I’m okay with that.

I wonder if its related to this bug?

In Raw'l-kwa crafting writh hand in boxes the alchemy one sometimes fall trough the chest is sitting on and end on the ground. Not an huge deal as it can still be accessed, has also run into this with chests in dungeons there chest stood on a block but is fallen to ground. Could access an corner but it would be impossible to spot without chest passive.

But why is static items affected by gravity in game? Yes the editing tool would have it like the put on ground we have in housing editor. But then placed object should simply have x,y and z coordinates and removing the items its sit on and it should float until you edit it? Weird. Yes chests are not always present and is removed if empty but this is just enabling and disabling.

Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Used to be that if you ran a distance away from that alchemy chest (most of the way to blacksmithing area, for example) and rode back quickly - you could watch the alchemy chest rise up out of the crate below.
The problem with society these days is that no one drinks from the skulls of their enemies anymore.
