I didn't click twice. My mouse was messing up as I stated in my opening post and making double clicks. This is something that can happen with a mouse over time and isn't all that unusual. Just google "mouse double clicking" and there are a lot of articles that come up. And the very next day I replaced it, so I didn't just let it keep happening.

Is ZoS responsible for my mouse? No, but there are other reasons that someone may want to return an item and it's not unreasonable for games to have grace periods, so why not?

Confirmation prompts for user actions are a standard part of user interfaces in software applications. I'm pretty unimpressed with this game's almost total lack of it. It's just GUI 101. In fact, I just spent the last few weeks adding some deletion confirmation prompts to some software, because the customer (quite rightly) pointed out the absence of them in certain parts of the software that my team works on.

Confirmation prompts may make it take longer to make a purchase but it would be time well spent in my opinion. Especially for expensive items like achievement furnishings.

I am sorry, but having to click through 3 confirmations to log out is pretty unimpressive.
Having to confirm a confirmation in other areas is also annoying.

Alternatively, one could just pay attention?
There are seperate keys for "preview" and "buy", after all.

If anyone here says: OH! But, PVP! I swear I'll ...

Thank you for the valuable input and respectfully recommend to discuss that aspect of ESO on the PVP forum.

When you buy from a guild trader you have to confirm. Just saying...

The use of preview is irrelevant to a purchase when, after clicking on buy (with or without a preview) there is no confirmation, and precious little sign that the purchase was made. I often find myself wondering if the buy registered. The only way to be sure is to check your inventory - far more annoying than a quick confirm purchase, just like guild traders.

I merely previewed an item and an error with my mouse purchased it. How is that me not paying attention?

And there was no message or any acknowledgement that an item had been purchased. I had no idea until I looked in my bag later. If there had been I would not have previewed any more items that ended up with me spending way more gold than I had intended.

I'm totally opposed to more confirmation prompts than the game already has. Then again, it wouldn't be so bad if such a prompt could be disabled in settings.

I don't see the point honestly, I feel like they would either screw it up completely or wouldn't even work. Don't think I've ever bought an item on accident either and I am famous among friends for never ever paying attention and spam clicking

And why did double clicking purchase an item anyway? Shouldn't we have to choose the E key to purchase and not just hit preview twice?

Grace period would be awesome! Or maybe an “Are You Sure you want to purchase this item?” pop up that requires you to wait a few seconds before accepting, when spending rare currencies.
