With the nerf to Health Recovery in PvP this has resulted in a stealth nerf to this mythic’s viability in PvP environments. This on top of its previous nerf has lead to a situation where it just isn’t viable at all in PvP in the current Crit heavy meta. Especially when it prevents all block mitigation on top.

Furthermore, its PvE utility is also questionable as there are far better mythic options for solo content. Plus, not blocking with heavy hits against Vet arena bosses is usually a death sentence. Further making this mythic obsolete.

Possible Solutions:

1. Double the Health Recover to counteract the Battle Spirit passive nerf.

2. Perhaps increase the bonuses dependent on what body armor your wearing to increase its value on Light and Medium set ups.

Eg: “Wearing 5 pieces of medium armor increases the bonuses of this mythic by 100%. Wearing 5 pieces of light armor increases the bonuses of this mythic by 200%.

3. Add a new bonus.
(1 Item) Increases your Critical Resistance by 2000.

I’m just throwing out values here as an example and I’m not suggesting all of them be implemented at once (although even then I think it wouldn’t offset no block mitigation.) But I think my point has been made.

If this set is supposed to offer a tanky setup and offset the punishment of no block mitigation, then it should do so effectively as currently you just can’t wear it in PvP without getting deleted and it’s barely worth it in PvE.

This is a mythic that is outshone by its competitors in nearly every way.

One of the best solo mythics imo. Can't say the same about pvp though

The only time I use it is in PvP when I'm going full Troll Healer (Gaze, Chudan Pauldrons, Green Pact, Plague Doctor) with my MagDen. 55k health when fully buffed. That's just when I'm feeling silly and solo queuing into GH.

For actual "real" PvP (I'm grouped with Guildmates) I wouldn't dare, and my setup is vastly different.

You're not wrong. Outside of dedicated troll healing, Gaze definitely needs some love.

Gaze could definitely use a buff. I remember it being pretty solid back in the day but almost every mythic since has outshined it where its use is super niche, and you really limit yourself by running it. Not only is the 0 block mitigation a huge downside that doesn’t weigh against its benefits, you’re also forgoing a monster set to run it on top of that. A few other irrelevant mythics could probably use a buff too.

I've tried using this on several builds and confirm it is extremely underwhelming. The increased armor doesn't help as much as you think it would unless you are on a build that is far over 33,000 armor for the purposes of maximizing damage reduction. But if you are looking to maximize damage reduction, you need to be able to block, and you give up all blocking/block mitigation with this mythic set, so that doesn't make any sense.

IMO, I'd love to see them lower the armor added, or replace it with straight crit resistance (I think ~ 1400 is probably fair), and then add straight damage mitigation to 30-50%. Then they can leave the health recovery where its at (though if they want to buff this, I won't complain either).

Either this, or just get rid of the block damage mitigation penalty because the extra armor and recovery do not even begin to break even with the damage mitigation loss you have by not being able to block.

Since there's 0 block mitigation, Gaze of Sithis needs way more armor and health recovery to even consider wearing.

    Could absolutely use a Buff.

Giving up Block in PvP (which is incredibly strong atm) isn't something that really gets compensated enough with what's on Gaze, currently.

I wouldn't consider wearing Gaze of Sithis in PvP unless it had at least 8000 armor and 3000 health recovery.

I'm not even kidding. Block mitigation is way too strong.

    Agreed 'n agreed.

I honestly don't think it would be ludicrous to just leave everything as it is and remove the Block restriction. It might instantly become the Go-To for Bash Builds (you of all people know that haha), but I don't think it would actually be OPed in the fashion of a real Meta-changing outlier, otherwise.

    How about this:

1 (Item) Adds 2000 Health Recovery
1 (Item) Adds 1000 Critical Resistance
1 (Item) Reduces damage taken by 40%.
Block mitigation is reduced to 0%, but you are always considered to be Bracing enabling you to automatically block incoming stuns.

Perhaps a flat damage taken buff would be better than Armor?

Even this doesn't seem all that strong considering how gutted health recovery is in PvP.

Something like 5k health recovery would be the minimum to consider it in PvP, that 50% nerf via battle spirit is brutal, even when not running vamp that has the additional recovery penalty.

Got to consider that it's not just taking the spot of a better mythic, but a potential monster set and no block mitigation at all.

[snip] yeah it needs some buff but this is extremely OP. 40% damage reduction is like 24k armor that cannot be penetrated. On top of that only a few skills will be able to stun you, so mostly perma unstoppable.

Like I have mentioned, the problem with Gaze of Sithis is that it is outshined by other mythics. It is supposed to be a set that gives you a lot of passive stat bonuses but in exchange for 2 big drawbacks - no block mitigation and not being able to use 2nd most powerful sets - dungeon monster helmets.

The issue is that you can just use for example Oakensoul and this set will give you way more passive bonuses. With Oakensoul you are way more tanky, you can still block & use monster helmets. And the drawback of having only 1 bar is arguably smaller vs no block mitigation & no monster helmets.

This would make this set far more ideal and useable IMO. I would like to see recovery around 3k though, because lets face it, this is getting used in Cyro/Imp City more than it is being used in PVE, and so that health recovery is 1/2 its shown stat. Furthermore, Health recovery is only useful if you build for it, and by using Gaze, you can't use something like Troll King to give you situational health recovery buff.

But I would definitely try using the mythic with the changes you proposed with something like Fortified Brass, Critical Reposit, or Hist Whisper.

Another solution is just to stack it with some auto permanent buffs. Like:

    1000 Critical Resistance
    3000 Maximum Health
    2000 Health Recovery

Gain the following Major and Minor buffs permanently but reduce your block mitigation to 0%: Resolve, Protection, Fortitude, Toughness, Vitality, Evasion.

    Another solution:

    1000 Critical Resistance
    3000 Maximum Health
    2000 Health Recovery

You are always considered to be Bracing allowing you to automatically block all incoming damage, but blocking in this way has 40% reduced effectiveness and you must still manually block for incoming stuns. Blocking attacks in this way costs no resources and your movement speed is unaffected.

I would say rather then disabling block mitigation have it reduce it by 50% similar to how the malacath rings reduces crit damage by 50%

Well they virtually eliminated troll tanking and seriously damaged strategic blocking with the new PvP set that essentially negates 40% of block mitigation.
