Mail Messages with Attachments and the Disable Option

I prefer the mail option that disables taking attachments automatically because I want to be able to pick them up on one certain character.

I noticed today that I bought some treasure maps and had some duplicates. It is entirely possible to delete the attachments without taking them if you cannot put them in your inventory. The delete button appears as soon as you try even if your inventory is full. I don’t know if this is a bug or is intended, but that is not how the old system worked. I have not yet deleted something accidentally, but it would be very easy. Can we get this fixed?

Doesn't it pop up with a box where you have to write DESTROY.
Unless you have an addon that autofills that it doesn't seem easy to accidentally destroy mail attachments If you do have such an addon it'd be good to disable it, at least from autofilling DESTROY in mail.

Right then it's a completely useless piece of advise I gave. It's years since I've done setup on most of the addons I use, so I just sometimes forget about functions addons add, and if something becomes outdated, I'm surprised to find it was an addon and not a basic feature of the game.
I am not sure I understand why you find that it's easy to accidentally delete mail attachments. I agree that it's a bit bothersome that it pops up, which it didn't before the mail changes. But it takes quite deliberate action to type all caps delete (sorry, I wrote Destroy above, there was maintenence so I couldn't check). I don't mind that people can delete mail attachments without having to loot them first, though I don't need it. This seems a good way of having that function. All the other mail changes however - well they are the opposite of the qol improvements zod promised when they announced they'd make less content.

Ok now it makes sense to me. That's not a great way of having a delete function on console. They must have been aware of the issue since they made it impossible to accidentally delete mail attachments on pc. I have never had need of it myself, but being able to delete mail attachments is a request I've read on the forums a couple of times, so how do you suggest the function can be kept, but without the risk of accidentally deleting with a one-wrong-button push on console (that stuff would annoy me too whenever I have to loot and delete multiple mails with attachments, which is daily for me).

Yes, it is very easy when you are quickly grabbing mail to hit the delete button, but the attachment still be there (whether lag or just me clicking buttons too fast), and there is a very short window to click a button to cancel the impending deletion (believe it's only about 3-5 seconds of it counting down on "do you really wanna delete?" You can definitely accidentally delete attachments - including gold on trader sale mails - by zipping through your mail too fast and not paying full attention.

And as a GM, I do have all the auto-collect/auto-delete stuff turned off since I get all sorts of auction and raffle mail that I have to be careful with. The mail system feels definitely a bit more precarious than before in general. Also not a fan of mail auto-deleting after X number of days (short timeframe) with the attachments still on it.

They won't do that, mostly because there was people complaining that you couldn't delete mail attachments before they were in your inventory. Which is why I thought it might be good with a different suggestion, so there would be a chance for the devs to change it to that.
Maybe a toggle next to the "autoloot" toggle that says "enable delete attachments" or a different button press or something.

I think perhaps I am not communicating properly because there would still be two options, delete after claim and disable delete.
