Cleansing negative effects

When I last played seriously in PvP there was a set called plague break that really added a layer of caution to players that tried to cleanse off negative effects. It pretty much removed the whole idea of cleansing from the game for PVP because nobody running a group in PVP wanted anyone to be cleansing or purging or equipping any skills that could even do that.

I don't know how things are now, but I'm wondering if that is still the case. Where where cleaning off a negative effect for you and your groupmates is a death sentence?

I'm playing a mags and I'm debating between equipping word trees blessing or curse eater. What I would rather do is just keep lich as a back bar set and just use the support line skill for cleanse but I'm afraid of involuntarily doing that to a group mate and accidentally killing them.

If that is the case, which one of these sets would you run?

I can't keep track anymore / doing more PvE these days, but I'm pretty sure Plaguebreak was nerfed a good while ago and not that many people run it anymore.

Curse Eater may be decent to supplement a purge skill. However as your only purge, Curse Eater is kind of a no go. Why? Because Ele Sus puts 3 recurring status effects on you plus the Ele Sus proc itself. That makes 4 effects, if not 5 (e.g. Breach). When you try to cleanse that with only Curse Eater, you typically end up cleansing just the status effects, only for that long-lastring Ele Sus curse to stay and DOT people right back up within the following 7.5 seconds.

Wyrd is the much better option for solo play, such as if you want to improve cloaking away on NB, but it's a selfish set, not for a healer.

Stendarr's Embrace set is basically Wyrd Tree Blessing to allies but with 2x cooldown.

Just to be correct with this though. If I purge only one effect with wyrd; The 15 second cool down still kicks in ?
