Would love a fishing mini event

Title. I see so many double xp/nodes pop-up events here and there; as someone who occasionally fishes, I would love an event where we get double fishes and possibly higher chances of catching rare fish. This would greatly help complete fishing achievements for those who haven't already.

I am not saying there should not be, though there actually is, in a manner. I am just saying I would not be part of it as fishing is the most boring thing I have found in the game.

Whilst not double fish drops, you are guaranteed to get the trophy fish you need(curated drops) as long as you are at the right water type hole!

No for me. I find fishing by far too boring and it's also too much time consuming. I gave up on the activity years ago.

I thought fishing itself was a mini-game...

That said, haven't there have already been events that have fishing activities in them? I seem to recall boring myself silly at the bottom of the Shadowfen map and catching slugs or urchins or summat.

Stack the fishing buffs (sharps, pickled fish, champion point) and you'll get all the rare fish in a zone in under an hour, unless the water type is rare (looking at you cyro fishing...).

Main problem is that it's still really boring

If there were to be a fishing event, I'd much rather it gave increased regular fish drops drops to filet. And perhaps increased gunny/bottle/folio drops (hey, I don't mind those runestones).

Trophy fish aren't worth much and can be caught any time with a little patience. And once you've got the angler achievement in any zone, the last thing you want are more trophy fish.

i wonder if that will include the crab-slaughter-crane in wrothgar lol, that fish is still eluding me lol

might also use that event to work on fishing in annoying areas (ones that have only 1 type of fishing hole) and IC lol

I'd love a fishing event, if the act of fishing were more involved than simply waiting to press a button.

There are people who love it, clearly, but I'll never understand why.

I'd love a fishing event where they throw all sorts of cool goodies into the loot table, so you have a chance of fishing out antiquities leads, furniture plans, recipes, motifs, rare materials, treasure maps, etc. Just 2-3 days.

Red Dead Online really nailed it with their Fishing Mini-Game. Spectacular job there. Would be nice to see something similar, but that's just wistful thinking.

I have every fishing achievement in the game, and I vote no.

Fishing is way to niche. I enjoy it from time to time, but most everyone I know can't stand it. Attempting to push the entire community into content that is and will always be niche is a terrible idea.

Better to ask for more and better rewards for fishing.

There are so many ways to handle fishing in a fun way. I've seen dozens of fishing minigames that do different things that are all far more engaging than "wait". The ESO implementation is about as low-effort as you can get.

I'm not sure how a mini-pop up event like this is 'pushing the community into content' considering its optional. I'm not asking for tickets nor special rewards. I am only asking for a fishing bonus like we have double nodes right now.

When CP 2.0 got introduced, there was a bug with the fishing CP that made fishing holes drop double loot when fishing with only one other person.

These things are very subjective, so the more variety of content there is the better for us all.

That could be said about almost any part of the game. Some players hate gathering materials but we still get double drop events often. We get double XP for dungeons and there are players that have no interest in doing dungeons. I wouldn't mind seeing double drops for fishing during the explorers events like is going on now.
I'm not sure a fishing centric event would work without greatly increasing the spawn rate of fishing holes but it would be nice if fishing were somehow included in already existing events. Maybe add an evil looking trophy fish or two for the Witch's Festival that can be used as furnishings. A skeleton of a Slaughter Fish that could be hung on the wall might be cool.

I also hope they include more opportunities to catch a monster you then have to kill with future content. Kind of fun just relaxing with a bit of fishing and all of a sudden you bring in some evil doer that tries to whomp ya.

I have no idea why people are so obsessed with fishing, that it is in 80 % of all MMOs. And specifically the fishing rod variety. The one that most actual fishermen are not even using.

Hmph. I've fished for years - decades even. And some of that time was with a very simple wooden pole, with no reel, very similar to what we use in game.

Fishing is very relaxing. I have 6 master anglers (1 each on 3 accounts, both PC NA and EU), and working on one each on my newest account both PC megaservers.

I’m with you. I have all the achievments too. I like fishing the way it is, simple, easy, and relaxing. When I see the words “fishing minigame”, I think of every stupid little frustrating fishing minigame I have ever played and feel instant revulsion.

Agree here. I love every now and then just listening to the ESO background music, fishing, while I read stuff on my kindle.

While I wouldn't mind one, I don't trust it would be well implemented. We'd end up with event tickers being tied to catching a fish with a ridiculously low spawn rate. Not something that is desirable.
