Another gentle reminder that BG scoreboards and medals do not account for Necromancers and Shielders

@ZOS_Kevin With the PTS cycle getting closer and closer to ending, I want to once again reiterate just how much Necromancers and Shielder support builds are left behind by the way that Scoreboards and Medals work.

Scoreboards do not track Pet Damage, Pet Healing, or Shielding Done/Damage Absorbed. This is more or less fine on live, since there's no real competitive aspect to live BGs, however it will pose a large issue going forward.

The fact that Necro's most effective abilities (Blastbones and Intensive Mender) do not contribute to their Scoreboard numbers and Medal Score with mean that they will have to work much harder to earn Medal Score and appear "useful" on the scoreboard. Blastbones typically does anywhere from 500k - 1M damage that doesn't show up on the scoreboard. Intensive Mender typically heals for 300k - 800k, again only trackable via CMX and invisible on the scoreboard.

The same applies (even moreso) to Shielder supports. I've completed matches where I kept my entire team alive on a Shielder, only to receive /tells from people questioning what I was even doing to contribute since my scoreboard damage and healing was only around 50k.

In a competitive environment, you cannot have some builds that simply don't show up as effective on the scoreboard, because it will breed toxicity.

Is the team aware that these issues exist with the scoreboard numbers and Medal Score? Are there plans to fix it?

Would love to see the artificial prohibition on "pets" not being treated as an extension of the player come crashing down.

It is BEYOND TIME that this archaic rule ends.

@ZOS_Kevin To show just how "invisible" Shielder supports can be - here's a scoreboard of a fairly sweaty BG match in which I kept my entire team from having any deaths at all. To someone that doesn't know any better, it looks like I stood around doing nothing all game with only 70k damage and 50k healing, despite absorbing a few million damage through shields according to CMX.

I've received plenty of whispers while playing this build calling me "useless" because nothing I do shows up on the scoreboard - my main heals are Intensive Mender and Shields.

The scoreboard also doesnt count damage done to damage shields.

So if youre fighting something like a MagSorc or a Shield Supporter your damage is going to look a lot lower than it actually is.

Please address the medals thing. It's really not something that should factor in to competitive match ranking... at least not in its current implementation.

If it'll take too much rework, then at least address the "pet" and shield issues.

This would make for a very entertaining Medal Score for like an 8v8 with all MagSorcs. Nobody did any damage or healing!

This is also the reason why Blastbones sucks now that you removed the only morph that did decent burst. NOTHING procs off of any damage done by the "let" because its not considered to be done by the player even though its more a delayed projectile than a pet.

As to the OP, another annoying this is go and heal people in Cyrodiil without being in a group. You won't get basically ANYTHING even if you keep everyone alive through a massive enemy push. If you didn't do damage to the enemy you get no credit.

It looks like another example of ignoring an issue for years only for it to show up its ugly head when a new feature is introduced.

Seriously is there any reason at all why the game treats ''Pets'' this way? Even the more ''passive'' ones like Bear/Scamp/Twilight still have an active component to it. Necro pets don't even have a ''passive'' component at all, BB is a delayed burst skill with legs, Skeletal Mage is a ''DoT'' with legs and Spirit Mender is a HoT with... well not legs, but you get the point lol.

That issue with necromancer is really frustrating, and why I started to play it less in battlegrounds. The pets also cannot proc any set in the game. This restriction needs to go.

@ZOS_Kevin Pinging here as well as it contains an example as well as more information as to why Medal Score needs to be nixed or reworked completely.

@ZOS_Kevin this is an emergent problem that needs consideration and action before this PTS cycle is over.

It’s also not just Necromancers, it’s all pet builds.

I also LOVE how my Blastbones supplies no Pale Order or Reaving Blows healing when I'm in the IA despite it being my core damage skill.

Pets need to be fixed NOW.

This is honestly the dumbest thing that isn't ever explained by the game. It's the same level of stupidity as Ball of Lightning removing the heal from hardened ward because "it's a pet".

@ZOS_MattFiror, the combat team needs help. They can't keep up with these quarterly cycles.

Yeah I've almost completely dropped necromancer for sorcerer. Years of neglect to this class and I feel like I can't put up with it anymore. The ghost mender also leads players to where you're hidden/stealthed in pvp. Sorc pets don't do this. Example: I'm sprinting with stage 4 vamp invis, the ghost mender will sprint after following me, but the players chasing after me can see my pet still, so they know where I am.

Jokes aside low assist score is a direct consequence of the issue described in the thread. To get medal for assist as a healer You need to do noticable enough amount of healing on allies that killed someone. So since game doesn't register shields as form of healing than it doesn't take shield based support under consideration when giving assist medals.

Score should be cut in half for every second you remain in stealth... and health...

One more joke... sorta... health and score should be halved every second you are in stealth.

Better yet, weshould have a form of slaughterfish that can float around to people sitting in stealth or just doing nothing and start chucking their score and health.

to my knowledge you don't get assist medals for healing people, only for doing a percentage of the damage required to kill someone.

Correct, I don't know where this person got their information but healing a teammate does nothing for calculating an assist on the kill.

It works that way in league of legends, but not eso.
Often you don't even get credit for assists of people you put a lot of damage into, due to the threshold percentage they have assigned

Maybe the stats on CMX are out of the scope of what the Developers of the game are trying to reward? Just because I might have missed it, what makes the PTS version "competitive" versus the live?

Well why would Spirit Mender and Blastbones not be rewarded while Cauterize and Flames of Oblivion are?
