Mythics for companions?

The mods can move this topic to a more suitable forum if there is one; I didn't see a wishful thinking category, unfortunately, but does anyone else think this would be a fun addition to the game?

Think about it: getting good gear for companions is presently 100% dependent on RNG, whether it's your own or that of another player who is listing companion gear on a trader. And there is no way at the moment of getting better than purple-quality gear for our companions.

I know that a companion is not a replacement for a player in terms of survivability, DPS, etc. But I think most of us enjoy playing with our companions, aside from maybe Bastian... I personally wouldn't mind grinding for leads for an artifact weapon or armor/jewelry piece that only my companion can equip. And since they're mythics and your companion can only equip one of them at a time, it's not as if they should radically throw off game balance or anything - particularly if the perks of equipping one are balanced by some disadvantage, like how most mythics work for players.

I bet they could add an interesting dimension to gameplay, if done well. And ESO can even throw in a little achievement for equipping a mythic piece on a companion for the first time!

I think the 'General ESO discussion' would be an appropriate place for a thread like this, but I'm not a mod.

I'd enjoy scrying for special pieces of companion gear, I think that's a neat idea. Maybe they should only need one or two leads rather than the five for regular mythics, since companion systems are generally simplified from their player versions. On a related note, I think ZOS made one piece of gold companion gear that was available through some time-limited means, before I started playing. Not sure why they haven't made that available again or introduced other gold-quality items.

Another somewhat related note: I've found the infinite archive vendor's coffers to be the best way of getting somewhat-inexpensive purple companion gear. If you're looking for specific pieces/traits you'll have to junk a lot of it, since it's all bound, but if you can't or don't want to cough up a ton of gold to buy from traders it's the most consistent way to get the gear you need.

A final note: Bastian is my personal favorite companion. He may be commonly disliked but he has his fans too B)

That's a good point about perhaps just needing 2 or 3 leads for a companion mythic; again, companions will never be all that strong, even with purple and gold gear. It'd still be nice to have a quickened piece, for example, that reduces companion cooldowns by 3%. It's not THAT different from 2.6% for a purple, of course, but knowing what steps you'd have to take in order to get a guaranteed piece of good loot is refreshing to me after the sea of random drops.
