Scribing Question

I have fully finished the quest line on my main but when scribing in a second toon, it is making me do the entire questline again. I’m in Indrik part of the quest, but someone told me I shouldn’t have to do this if I’ve finished it all on my main.

You don't have to do that, you only need to do the first quest with gathering the crystal in the backroom. This will unlock scribing on an alt. When you are guided to the indrik quest, you have already unlocked scribing on that alt.

You won't have any scripts on the alt yet though, and you can still do the entire questline on the alt if you want.

After you have complterely finished quest line for Scribing all your other characters on that account will also have a chance to get Luminous Ink.

The only gain from doing that quest line on alts is that you will have a total of 12 Luminous Ink from each character that does this which can be faster then farming Ink as it is random vs a sure way to get at least 12 Ink.

There's a few scripts that drop from the quests as well. I think (but I haven't really done much with scribing) once you've done those quests once, you can just buy those scripts on other characters as needed.

What’s confusing about it though is that once you do the first quest on your alt there is still a quest marker to talk to somebody to continue the quest. It isn’t obvious that you can just ignore that quest marker and go to the vendor. You still have to do the mage quest script races thing for those 9 scripts.

Edit to add: the vendor in the scholarium has all the grimoires (I think) but stock of scripts rotates each week. So, you might still have to do dailies to fill in your script holes. Also, the vendor in the infinite archive has a small selection each week.

ngl i would pay to skip that ENTIRE quest line on ALL my alts . So some one tell me how to skip it on my alt like you're giving directions to an out of town person who never saw scribing before but done it on one character already. If that makes sense.

Go to the quest giver in front of the scholarium in the main hub city in west weald. The quest giver is to the right of the mage guild

Follow the quest through the portal until you get to the raven.

The raven gives you the quest to find an item that makes scribing work. After this turn in, if you can use scribing on that particular alt.

Thank you very much for the info! Does this take you through the whole quest again?

What do you mean with "the whole quest"? Opening the doors for the Luminaries? No.

The "whole quest" that you have to do on an alt is literally just what Bradyfjord wrote. Follow the NPC, get the crystal for the raven (from basically the next room), and that's it. That's the entire "quest".

you dont have to do the wing quests again unless you want the freebie inks (as each character still gets +3 inks from the netch, gryphon, indrik, and dragon wings)

in order to access scribing you only have to do the very first quest (second era of scribing) which basically ends after you open the doors and collect the crystal from the box and then do the initial scribe of the wield soul skill
    plays PC/NA
    handle @Necrotech_Master
    active player since april 2014

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

I swear you people really make things so confusing. I did the whole quest line on one character. I unlocked the whole scribing altar. I did not have to repeat it on any other characters. They all can scribe. The quest is there to speak to the crow if you want to repeat doing the quest but you do not have to do it. Why would you want to repeat it? Heck if the ink is an issue for you, you can buy it from Guild Traders.
