Why does ZOS does not allow changing sets during combat?

Outside of all comments above it would also make even more combat depending on your hardware as swaps would then have to happen on your computer/console and server would have a much heavy traffic then now to handle all swaps (buffs/debuff from procs).

There is also the argument that RPGs are based on planning your fights which means activate right food/drinks and potions ready including weapon and gear for the type of combat you expect. Witcher system is very much based on that strategy that player need to adopt to what enemies to fight and (RPG)MMOs aren't that different. ESO are after all modelled after Elder Scroll RPG where you worked to have the right spells or weapon to take on enemies.

For PVP it would be a nightmare to have even more swapping with gears and combat mode are base for a lot more then just gear.

It also changes movement speed and your regeneration from resources.

One reason why Dungeon speedsters are really an issue for those have have low resource gain in between each boss (low CP have less chance to use CP to reduce cost in from sprinting and therefore also can not block when they get to hostile targets or use any skills that are based on stamina as an example) and need some time to catch up on resources before starting to attack anything.

The same is true for changing area where one have to interact with a door or passage while being in combat will prevent player for using that door to get out of danger.

Getting stuck in combat is something that needs to be fixed when that happens, but in general combat mode is necessary to keep game from becoming a question of having most slots, most gear collected and having better hardware then everybody else and internet connection as that would very fast add up in even more load on server if it would possible to change gear when ever without any detrimental impact on player.

Because it's unrealistic to stop during a battle to change your clothes.

Lol, I can’t believe I had to read to comment 10 to see this.

Mounting during combat makes sense, though you would take damage, but changing gear does not.

I personally prefer to not have this option.

The ability to change sets during combat would open up the doors to a gear changing metagame that would revolve around getting the most set based procs off by switching gears over and over between eachothers cooldowns. .

So you don't want to reward high skill? basically make everyone's build as simple as a HA sorcs?
    Very selfish!
If you don't want to do it that's fine, but why shouldn't other have the ability to do so?

You asked for opinion and the community has spoken. Take a hint. No one here is selfish if the only "other" who wants this is you.

20 pairs of sets in your inventory, swapping a pair every second to get all the procs on cooldown. Can't see anything going wrong there.

What's the issue? if someone can micro manage 20 sets why shouldn't he parse higher than someone that does HA's exclusively?

It'd be okay if everything in pve would be buffed accordingly, because otherwise the game would become very easy and thus boring, we already have a lot of irrelevant content difficulty-wise.
You know, there's so much "skill" when everything is done by addons/macros, not you. The same applies to weaving tbh, why stress your fingers and mouse when you can just use a clicker

This got changed many years ago (think it was during or after thieves guild update) where people would use addons to swap gear mid combat to gain extra stats/damage. A common example was nightblade bombers who would pre-buff with clever alchemist and then swap to sets like spinners to increase their damage even further. This could easily be done during combat on PC since addons could be used to swap the gear for you.

TL:DR it´s for balance reasons, and it would lead to some really un-necessary power creep.

You could never swap sets if memory serves correctly.

You could swap skills in combat if you hadn't been damaged or damaged anything for a set amount of time.

You can get over 200k parses without swapping sets :-P

We're talking about raid dummy parses here, right?
Care to show me a 200+ one?

So,exactly Why does ZOS does not allow changing sets during combat?

Why? Because it would absolutely ruin the game. Any balance would be completely destroyed. There's wouldn't be a need for any roles anymore as everyone would simply get tons of buffs from defensive sets and then start switching to damage proc sets every single second of a fight. The server would get a heart attack whenever an organizes group enters a trial. You could hear peoples outcry in PvP to the moon even if there's no air to get it there to begin with. Sheogorath himself would beg you to stop this madness and there's a good chance you'd create a freaking black hole while bending spacetime itself during a dummy parse. That's why. Never ask this again.

I think it was becouse it made addons mandatory in trial racing and consoloes did not have access to addons back then. People had different gear for pre-fight buffing (throw your ult with balorg hat on) and the rest of the fight (change your clothes for more stable dps). I recently came back and noticed necromancer cant harvest ult from corpses out of combat either, presumably to not to give them pre-buffing advantage? That used to be a nice little mechanic to collect ult while raid leader was explaining stuff.

That's what I was thinking... I mean that would be... awkward... seeing naked people in a combat zone changing their clothes while theirs an on going battle.
