What if Trial Leaderboards Counted the Number of Trials Completed instead of Top Score?

Because that's how the BG leaderboards work, and if they aren't changed by the time PTS hits live, you can kiss any semblance of "competitive" BGs goodbye.

The BG leaderboards count cumulative medal score. That means that those who play the most BGs will always be at the top of the leaderboard, with very little margin of error for actual performance in said BGs.

Imagine if the Trial Leaderboards, instead of keeping track of the best score by a group, kept track of the total score accumulated throughout the week. A group blitzing through 100s of trials with a handful of deaths each time would then rank higher than a group that has a perfect trifecta run of a single trial.

This is how the BG leaderboards are set to launch. It needs to be changed on PTS before they hit live. They work this way on live, and no one cares about the leaderboards because of it, but we don't have a "competitive" queue yet so it doesn't matter.

If you want to foster a competitive 4v4 queue, you need to have the leaderboards actually mean something. They cannot continue to be cumulative Medal Score.

How would it work? Wins would also be just whoever plays the most.

Win loss ratio? KDA? An actual MMR score? Some combination of the above? There's plenty of different ways to do it, but making it a cumulative score that never goes down is not it.

I will say that the people with the top scores in a given trial are probably the people who've run it the most (at a high level), so in PvE it correlates pretty well.

The most competitive NA teams raid something like 20+ hours a week together, and then some of them raid with other groups too. A few of them do BGs competitively as a 4man (I've run into them in the past).

im not entirely surprised by this, when it was hinted that they would still be using medal score, i didnt expect them to change the MMR system at all

medal score is the worst metric to use for MMR

What about Highest Mean Medal Score with at least 5 matches played?

Medals aren't perfect but they can be adjusted. It's all we have for now to score Performance.

I agree a Permorance Score rather than Cumulative would go a very long way to making this new Leaderboard truly competitive.

Yes the Crit Heal is too much, Pets don't score, etc, all Medal issues that can be fixed. A simple Cumulative score cannot be fixed as far as I can fathom, it's got to be divided by matches played.
