perfect roe

did they nerf drop rate? I caught 1002 fish and received 7 perfect roe, this normal? That's 30% less then I expected.

Maybe RNG, though I seem to get less perfect roe using the fillet option at cooking fires than I did when I filleted fish individually. I've gotten very few since using the mass fillet option (and I've filleted more than 1000 fish since then). I posted about it shortly after they introduced the option.

It's roughly 1 per 200 on average but its still rng. 7 is really low though. Should have around 10-12.

Perfect Roe has never had a guaranteed drop. I got my first roe after filleting 700 fish. 1,000 fish is not even close to a significant sample size to draw conclusions about the drop rate. If after 100k fish you only get 700 roe, then you can start raising concerns.

On the opposite end of this I recently decided to tidy up one of my inventories and filleted 67 fish at a provisioning fire and got four, yes FOUR roe!!

I have also been on the other end and received none at all for 500+ fish.

Again recently after the "catch 8 fish" endeavor I just filleted those 8 to get rid of them and got a roe.....

RNG is a weird and wonderful thing! 🤣

1 per 200 would mean for 1002 fish, you'd get 5 roe; OP got 7 so higher than "average". 1:200 has generally been my average as well I believe. Sometimes I get 1:100 but, like you said, RNG.

Perfect roe is one of those magical mysteries, because Ive pulled multiple from a 100 stack and on other occassions, Ill pull nothing out of it.

I’ve seen both claims made repeatedly over the years. Does anyone have an actual source for data on this? Tmbrinks doesn’t cover it on his spreadsheet, last I knew.

I've been doing better than that but not much better. I never use the auto fillet and I resent that its first in the chart.

I used to track my Roe production, and over the course of 3 months it would average out at just under 1/100. For the first few weeks to a month, there were some wild blips when random chance dipped or jumped the graph to the extremes. But the longer I maintained the data, it smoothed out more and more to the point that those exteme hits barely made a blip on the graph.

I did that after seeing others post their results as well. And I only did it personally just to confirm it for myself.

Anybody can do it, as it's easy to do. Just build a very simple spreadsheet with "Fish In" in one column, "Roe Out" in the next column. Build a formula in a 3rd column to calculate the ratio. Then use a graphing tool from whichever spreadsheet platform you're using, to graph out a 4th colum filled with the average/mean. Or just create a cell that displays the average/mean of the 3rd column if you don't need a visual representation.

Unfortunately, when I "Cleaned House" on my laptop, that data was something that I just didn't bother keeping. Wish I'd used Google Sheets, cuz then I'd probably still have it.

Same. This is one of those little changes that I hate. That and the noise from chub loons being removed.

I'll screenshot the next time I'm fileting and post it for y'all. I'll have to go fish some more somewhere in the next couple of days; I fileted everything I had after the last master angler on my 3rd account PC NA.

Weird question. Does anyone know if the meticulous disassembly champion passive improves the drop rate? I find I get more perfect roe when I have it on but that may just be me.

Kind of cracks me up but I've been told and kind of believed it was around 1:150. I've been getting lucky with Perfect Roe. I usually fish while waiting for our trial group to get organized and seem to get more than I should. Maybe I just remember the times I get a Roe from seven fish but forget all the times I get nothing? Anyway I'm going to continue with feeling I come out ahead if I do better than 1:150.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

I fillet thousands of fish at a time. It's always 1 in 100 on average. Sometimes the odds are against you and sometimes you get way more. But over the course of 20k+ fish it will be very close to 1 in 100.

That was still working the last time I got one in the last few weeks. Granted, it’s been a bit since my roe luck has always been awful, but even if you’re filleting at the provisioner station, it did still do the sparkle if you got one or more.
