i dont think the gear is the only thing that causes the lag in cyro, even if everyone was only using the torc of the last king, if you added 10x the player cap there, you would still get insane lag because of the game having to do processing for player positioning, the skills themselves, siege, the keep status (wall dmg, keep levels from resources, etc)

theres a lot of factors going on besides gear

no proc was kind of a similar thing to that, since significantly less gear options, but based on population it was almost never populated in ravenwatch, which means that ruleset was incredibly unpopular, and it was a catch 22 because of all the people that complained about procs would never play there because they said nobody played there

even when they did the testing and had all the campaigns as no proc, zos said that it only marginally effected performance, but not enough to make an impact

we dont know exactly everything that goes on behind the scenes with processing in cyrodiil since its all handled serverside, at this point the only real thing they can do would be throw more hardware at the problem, but thats not a real solution to tech problems

I'm of 2 minds and this is theoretical as I don't think what you propose is possible anyway, but the current trajectory of continuously decreasing pop size is going to kill cyro eventually just by forced atrophy so defacto option 2 would have to be it.
That said a big part of PvP in eso is making your own build/char and if that's removed you'd probably lose huge chunks of the PvP population anyway. Bit of a lose lose really.

It's not something im proposing since Zos had deaf ears for years even for suggestions 10x better than this; It's only curiosity because i love making new builds and theorycraft but sometimes i miss the big population and the times everyone was running julianos/willpower hunding/agility

I want both, lots of sets/cp/modifiers to choose from, and servers that can handle 10x the capacity. Cyro PvP is what made me really invested in this game, and the promises of server upgrades and code rewrites are what made me spend a lot more on this game than I originally intended (taking eso+ fulltime and buying chapters on release). I'm still having fun, and reduced my frustrations a lot by reducing my spending (chapter on discount, 2-3 times a month of eso+ a year to clear inventory), but I won't be happy with anything less than what I was being sold.

You didn't provide really fair answer options, but if the customization wasn't the way it is I would not be playing this game.

Many people are in this boat.

Regardless of how this poll goes, the truth is that if we implement what is being suggested via option B then you would automatically fix lag in PVP because no one would be playing.

A few years back they did a global no proc test to see if it affected performance. It did not.

Set archetypes and builds would do nothing to fix the lag - they already tested that with the no-proc tests.

I would love it if they went back and removed all the rule breaking sets like DC and roa. Game has spiraled downhill from that point onward and only gotten worse. However, build diversity, within the rules, is what MADE.. historically speaking, this game so good once upon a time.

Let's give nb a heal that breaks the battle spirit rule while we are at it...

    Favorite Foods and Potions

    • Parse Food for PvE:(DPS) Ghastly Eye Bowl (increases Max Magicka by 4592 and Magicka Recovery by 459 for 2 hours).
    • Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours). Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

The two tests they did that actually helped performance were:
    1. only being able to heal your own group
    2. Cool down on AoE skills (shared across all abilities)

Now, 2 sucked. Especially for something like a Templar where you couldn't cast your spammable.

    1 was fantastic.

The no-proc test had no benefit and was only kept until recently because of a vocal minority.

I think you are missing the two main problems:
    1. The PvP playerbase has shrunken so much that it is not really sustainable.
    2. Performance has gotten so bad that you have ever shrinking population caps so that the few remaining players can't get in during peak times.
