Question for pvpers, what would be the most disappointing thing to get in update 44?

What do you NOT want to see in update 44? im curious. I have been telling people for months that I think we are most likely getting either group dueling or new BG maps. Both of which would be extremely disappointing to me and most people i know. Both things would be a pretty easy route to go, which is why i think were getting one of the two.

I think group dueling should have been added many years ago, but its not something to focus an update on. And the same goes for new BG maps or game modes. Thats something to be added as a small part of a chapter, like BGs were back in morrowind. Sadly, i think one of these things are the most likely, and most disappointing. But Im curious what other people would like to not get in this update.

Personally i would like to see either an open world flagging system, on a different layer from everyone else, thats pvp only, with incentives. Or, a solo FFA pvp zone, a guild pvp zone, or even a battle royale style zone like wow got with plunderstorm a few months back. Hell, even just a new plain pvp zone would be less disappointing. But im curious what other pvpers think.

So, okay.... I'm not a pvper at all any more. But if I were.... the MOST disappointing things would range from nothing at all to "new" BG maps, or dueling etc.

I kind of think a guild pvp zone would be something that people would appreciate. I pvp'd for years in WoW and RIFT, and while I would not appreciate a battle royale thing at all (and if I still played WoW, that would probably be the end of my pvp if I hadn't already quit), I can see why others here might think it would be great.

I just hope whatever the new "system" is, it's something that will make all you pvp-oriented folks at least somewhat happy.... It's been way too long that you've had virtually NOTHING.

Ya adding anything similar to what we already have is just insane. It would be basically just updating a current system. Imagine if they did that to pvers after like 6 years. But we can hope.

But i understand how you feel about battle royales. I felt the same too. Then i tried plunderstorm and it was suuuuper fun. The thing is, it was like a seperate game mode. Like when you opened the client you could go to your server, or go to plunderstorm. But i mean id take it in a zone. Even if they add something new that not everyone likes, as long as its different from what we have you at least they are trying.

Oh, that's very true! I've been gone so long from the other MMOs (and I was MUCH younger then) so if that still obtained I might have a different attitude for sure.

I'm just too old, slow, bad reflexes, bad internet - and now, all I really want to do is just putz my way through quests etc. And even that's getting to where I can't do it.... Sad.

I REALLY HONESTLY hope that pvp gets a lot of love. It's your turn. MORE than your turn....

Well, the Devs refer to ToT as PvP so anything in that vein really.

If there is no group duels/arenas you can set up privately.

1v1s are insanely hard to balance and you are meant to play with others, it's an MMO. So 2v2 to 4v4s where you don't have to find a spot in IC would make doing Group V Group easier and maybe lead to more community run events.

The only thing that would disappoint me is something like ToT.

Honestly, I'd like a new game mode at this point. An 8v8 or guild v guild would be cool.

An update to battlegrounds instead of Cyrodiil or Imperial City, both of which have been in need of updating for years.

And I know it looks like the big PVP update is likely to be a BG update/refresh.

The September roadmap has an image for a livestream for update 44 which clearly shows Battlegrounds as you can see someone in a Pit Daemon outfit, a Firedrake flag, and what might be a new Firedrake outfit.
Thus the PvP feature is likely for Battlegrounds.

Any increase in damage. Getting one shot discourages new players from sticking with PVP. Every player should at least have a chance in a fight and not be or 2 shot.

Anything to do with ToT.

While just being a new BG map would be disappointing, having a new BG mode might (key word: might) be interesting if it is done right. But it would have to also be something completely different to the modes we currently have.

I honestly don't understand why there haven't been new BG maps now and then. Unless the pipeline to implement them is constructed in a really stupidly convoluted way (and if it is, then they should've been working to change that for years now), new BG maps don't seem to be that complicated. Esp. when considering what can be done with new houses, dungeons, and zones regularly.

oh no, i didnt notice that. Wow, its sad they could be so out of touch. And like i said, its the easiest way out so it makes sense. This is going to backfire if true though, this is the last thing anyone wants.

But its like ive been saying to my pvp friends for months, zos usually disappoints us so except to be disappointed in spectacular fashion. And it looks like thats the case. Now that i've seen the picture someone posted in this thread, its deff gonna be bg related. Sad and out of touch.

Has it not been confirmed we are getting 8 v 8 type battleground? I just hope they have CP and non CP versions. Or if they have to chose, have the CP version.

Since from that screenshot it will be related to BGs...

Things I would hugely disappointed by are:

Just a bunch of new achievements (with or without cosmetics attached).
Just a new map or two.
New game modes that make death match even less likely.
Loss of existing content (unless it's flag games - they can go!).
New "Battle grounds" deck for Tales of Tribute (would it really surprise you?).
Addition of CP BGs (I'd actually like to have this, but it's too small by itself to be the update).

Things I would be overjoyed with:

A return of the ability to queue for the mode I want to play.
To ever get death matches in my solo queues ever (I honestly suspect my account is bugged).
The ability to create a custom BG with number of teams/players and a mode of my choice that people can then join.

If it's the rumoured 8 v 8 BG, quite a lot of us want it. They clearly can't make Cryro work with higher numbers anymore. I'd love guild v guild, but would totally take 8 v 8 as a replacement.

The disappointment has already reached max on the dial for me. ZOS said the whatever it is, is not Cyrodiil related. That means ZOS has no plans to improve the best PvP and most neglected PvP mode ever created in a video game.

And if I had to predict, the "PvP content" will be a dual finder addition to the group finder menu. That's all it will be.

What I don't want to see is a dueling finder or just new BG maps.

Other studios pump out maps on a monthly basis - if it took 5 years and all we get is some BG maps that is going to be disappointing.

I know they have already said it's not Cyro related so.... for me that is the overall disappointment. Cyro has been abandoned and it's truly a shame.

Yes! This would be a great starting point. If player interest is high, adding larger events might be considered. We might get our own AV 40 v 40!

that is what happens when a dev team is extremely out of touch with what their players want, and when they refuse to listen to them. It sucks. this game has all the potential in the world but somehow zos always manage to disappoint. And ive said this probably hundreds of times over the years, but ill say it again, i would LOVE to be proven wrong. I would LOVE for this to be a good pvp update, with something new and fun. Unfortunately, it never seems to happen. Almost always i am left disappointed.

I think the last time i was actually excited for something in eso was scribing, and before that i cant remember. Too long ago. Maybe necromancer. But even then I had a feeling it wouldn't even come close to spellcrafting. And i was right. Its an ok system, but its not really game changing. Thankfully it can be improved over time. But to botch a pvp focused update like this, when we havent had something substantial for pvp since BGs were added, would be heartbreaking for many people. But this is why i always tell people, dont get your hopes up when it comes to eso, mainly where pvp is concerned. You will probably be disappointed.

I guess time will tell, but after seeing the image linked in here i am convinced its BGs. Which is really sad. This was the last hope for a lot of pvpers.

I agree with you that a new bg would be a cool addition, but not to a PVP update. Not when we havent gotten anything new for so long. They added BGs in morrowind, if they want to add more maps add them in a chapter. I love AV, i doubt we will ever see something like it in eso, but again this is not the time.

as for quite a lot of people wanting it, theres a time and a place. i have talked to countless people over the years, and i have never once heard someone tell me what they want most for pvp is a new bg map. Or at all. Especially in an update thats supposed to be pvp focused. Bgs are cool for what they are, i have fun in them sometimes, but most of us that pvp enjoy cyrodiil or IC more. Unfortunately both zones have issues that zos is either unwilling or unable to fix.
