Mulaanmir in Infinite Archive - Help

I am soloing IA.
Mulaamnir - can't kill them! I keep getting knocked off the podium. If I get to close I get continual shock damage. So I am running around in circles attacking trying to do as much damage as possible, but always get caught by the knock back, I try not to face it. I get close but all my death - getting knocked off.

Would forward momentum prevent knockback?

Thoughts?

if your inside of his lightning aoe your too close

its also recommended to stay in the front of the dragon to avoid wing and tail slaps

the only knockback from the front is the much more telegraphed dragon shout which you can block through

this dragon is one of the annoying ones because even if you have enough dmg to outright nuke it you cannot kill it before it flies lol, it will still fly even with 0 hp and land with 1 hp lol

i also noticed they slightly tweaked this boss, in later arcs it places 4 roaming lightning circles instead of 2, i think this doesnt occur until at least arc 3 though

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

Block prevents knockback. Just have to watch for his emot that signals he is going to use knockback, and block it.

Definitely better to stay in front of the dragon, as mentioned, as then you only need to block its one heavily telegraphed shout attack to avoid being knocked off the platform. The wing and tail strikes will only happen if you're on the side / behind the dragon - they can also be blocked to avoid a knockback, but they are not as well telegraphed.

As long as you're not so close as to be inside its AoE circle, the attacks that come from the front don't do an enormous amount of damage and you should be able to heal through them with vigor or another HoT.

Unless you're reeeeally squishy, in which case you'll probably run into an increasing number of problems as you move farther into IA, and in which case you may want to consider building more defensively, especially for going in solo.

All IA dragons (and overland dragons) have elemental damage circle when you go under their head and wing slap you when you come on their sides.

    This dragon in general:
-Storm breath: stay in front and block
-Unrelenting Force: block (sound cue: Fus Ro Dah). Failing to block will result in knockback that might yeet you off the arena.
-Storm cloud: move and avoid. It summons another circle similar to the one that is under him and it will start slowly moving towards you. Standing in the circle will shoot thunder at you every second. When playing with companion or another player, there will be 2 moving circles. (visual cue: moves its neck into air)

Below 50% it will fly into air and do two fly-by breaths on the area. Standing in the path of the breath is almost a death sentence, move to the sides. Small sparks do significant damage, but nothing fatal.
The flying sequence always happens, even if you nuke it, the hp will stuck at 1 then it will die after landing.

I don't remember having problems with any of the dragons in IA (even solo) other than the one that covers almost the whole platform in fire. I had problems with that guy because I was stupid and never backed up enough to realize that the outer edges of the platform were the only fire-free areas to stand in until the fire went away. I'm on a heavy attack sorc build and even though I'm built for all damage I have like 39k health with food and a pet to heal with. If you have a decent build and self heal and a reasonable DPS you should be able to defeat the dragon (in the early stages at least) relatively quickly and with a good self heal you should be able to easily out-heal the shock areas. I never even paid much attention to them because they just weren't damaging me much. Maybe there are areas that damage you more and if so, then just don't "stand in stupid" (as the saying goes around ESO).

the funny thing is mulaamnir is the only dragon that does a forced fly phase, the other 2 dragons, laatvulon and yolnakrin can be nuked and killed before their flying phase lol

It looks like IA dragons have a very small area in front of them that they can target with this. If you just walk too far to the side, the breath won't be able to reach you. No need to block it, you can literally take no damage

For mulamiir, BLOCK when he lands. He does a big hit that can kill you in higher arcs.

you might be thinking of yolnakriin that does the explosion in his front

the other 2 dragons dont do that though
