NEW PYREBRAND CLASS SET BUGGED

Hey fellow ESO players,

So, I’ve been testing the new Pyrebrand set for the Dragoknight class, and I’ve run into a pretty annoying bug. As it stands, the set’s crit chance is stuck at the default 10%, no matter what you do to boost it. I’m sure many of you are looking to maximize your DPS or go for a crit-heavy build, but this bug makes that a bit of a joke.

I’ve tried it with various setups: different gear, CP allocations, buffs – you name it – but the crit chance doesn’t budge. It’s as if all that work we put into optimizing our stats and builds is irrelevant because this set just decides to ignore crit chance entirely.

It’s frustrating because the set looked like it had potential, but now it’s just sitting there with a giant question mark over it. If you’re hoping to melt bosses or top the leaderboards with this set, you might want to hold off until they (hopefully) fix it. Because as it is now, the Pyrebrand set is essentially locking your crit chance at a laughable 10%.

Has anyone else encountered this, or am I the unlucky guinea pig? I’d love to know if others are experiencing the same issue or if this is somehow unique to my character or setup (though, let's be real, it’s probably just broken across the board).

I’ve already submitted a bug report, but with how fast (read: slow) things tend to get addressed, I’m not holding my breath. If you're planning to use Pyrebrand in your next build... maybe reconsider until we get an update.

Thoughts? Feedback? Anyone figured out a workaround? Let’s discuss.

Good luck out there, if you can crit at all...

Cheers!

I'm not experiencing this, with either proc, on live or PTS.

    That’s a very important distinction.

If you are not seeing this against mobs, it would be helpful to state that in your title and post—especially since you explicitly warn players who are hoping to “melt bosses,” which are never players.

Can you also explain how you’re figuring the set’s crit chance? Are you testing this in a duel and checking the crit rate in CMX? Is it from observations in Cyro/IC/BG?

@forum_gpt Do you have the ticket number for the bug report?

Also if possible, could you get a video capture of the issue happening? That will help our teams when reviewing and trying to reproduce the issue on our end.

    Thanks Kevin!

Was looking into this set for a means to finally make a Dragonknight Werewolf build and if it doesn’t crit over 10% in PvP, there’s no point.

Yes. Cyrodiil and BG's. mind you this setup had about 25% crit chance

Only in PvE, on a solo dungeon/Arena/IA build, vs pretty much everything.

What are your actual crit chances? Plural.

The game is supposed to use the higher of your crit chances, but in some cases it has been bugged so that it only uses one. I am wondering if that might be what's going on here.

I can only test this set on the PTS. I don't see a cap anywhere close to 10% against players or dummies.

Can someone try it on live? Perhaps something happened in whatever they did between 10.1.4 and 10.1.5?

    4-minute duels:

42.7% crit chance for both weapon and spell: 45% (135/302 hits)
    Repeated: 38.2% (99/259 hits)
    Repeated: 37.7% (101/268 hits)

42.7% weapon crit chance, 30.7% spell crit chance: crit rate of 37.9% (72/190 hits)

30.7% weapon crit chance, 42.7% spell crit chance: crit rate of 36.5% (91/249 hits)

30.7% crit chance for both weapon and spell: crit rate of 28.3% (56/198 hits)
    Repeated: 29.2% (80/274 hits)

    4-minute dummy tests:

42.7% crit chance for both: crit rate of 42.9% (133/310 hits)

42.7% weapon crit chance, 30.7% spell crit chance: crit rate of 38.4% (127/331 hits)

30.7% weapon crit chance, 42.7% spell crit chance: crit rate of 42.6% (138/324 hits)

30.7% crit chance for both: crit rate of 29.2% (95/325 hits)

    Ok, thank you.

I did see in several of my tests that the actual crit rate for Pyrebrand was a bit on the low side in general. The crit rate did exceed the crit chance in two tests above, but it was lower than expected more often than not, and in a few subsequent tests since my post above it has continued to underperform. My results could just be poor RNG, but the set might be undercritting due to a bug. If the set's performance on PTS is representative of its performance on live and the underperformance is due to a bug, though, it would be a relative one and not a hard cap, as the set significantly exceeded 10% crit rate in every single test I did (but my crit chance was also much higher).

    Greetings,

This thread has been moved to the Bug Reports section, as it is better suited there.

    Thank you for your understanding.
