The frustration of the Oblivion Obliterator achievement

Saw that the Firebelly Shalk pet is a reward for getting the Oblivion Obliterator achievement. Checked the achievements, and saw I was one boss short, Ol'icath. I said to myself, "How hard could it be to get one boss?" Silly me.

After an hour of killing boss after boss, I noticed a distinct pattern: Domoira, Faram-Xaran, Flarion, Kmolag, repeat. "Weird, appears to be in alphabetical order, but it keeps skipping the one boss I need." So I left the oblivion portal and found another. Another pattern emerged: Kmolag, Kmolag, Kmolag, Faram-Xaran, Faram-Xaran, Faram-Xaran, Domoria, repeat. Did it a third time, this time entering from Blackwood instead of the Deadlands. I was blessed with a third pattern: Kmolag, Flarion, Faram-Xaran, Domoira, repeat. "Ahh, reverse alphabetical, and again skipping the one boss I need." So I quit after wasting a total of 2 hours. Came back several hours later. Alphabetical order again, again skipping Ol'icath.

It didn't matter if I was alone or with other players, Ol'icath was not to be found. Moved around inside the dungeon, taking other portals back and forth. Did 'reloadui.' I finished the whole oblivion portal. I did not finish the portal. I killed Salosuum. I did not kill Salosuum. Did all the "have you tried this?" suggestions. Ol'icath was not going to show.

Is this a bug? Is this intentional, as in its rare for Ol'icath to appear? Is this yet another example of the maddening RNG? Because patterns like this are in no way random. Is Ol'icath hiding in a psijic portal in Southern Elsweyr? This is ridiculous.

Pure RNG. It took me about 45 minutes to get them all the other day. Quite a few repeat spawns and Ol’icath was the last one I needed but I think that’s coincidence.

@vgabor I guess its good that he actually appears. "Hey, I got an idea. Lets make bosses based on RNG, then make an achievement based on killing all of them."

I did it on 4 platforms, though I already had part of it.

The one boss that seems to insta-kill me what really annoying, but the others were just tedious. Yeah not the most fun time, but at least others were there for that and the end boss kills.

Now I debate if I want to grind out 30 of the final boss kills to max the achievement just in case that becomes needed. But boy is standing around and waiting for that respawn tedious!

I have the same problem but with other mini-bosses. Ol'icath has shown up several times as have the others, but Faram-Xaran and Domoria are apparently still on vacation and refuse to spawn.

I need domoria and faram xaram but olicath always repeats itself

Man im really lucky now, i waited respawn killed olicath then appeared domoria and know faram-xaram

Olicath was the last one I needed to buf it only took like 20 minutes for it to spawn.

My experience has been duke of storms over and over and over, I like you need 1 boss and he just isn't dropping Faram-Xaran is who I need, very frustrating

Keep at it if you can, possibly ask for some guild help. It may be a bit tough since it is no longer the daily or weekly endeavor, but perhaps you can get someone to help you camp there.

If you keep getting Duke of Storms, youre in the wrong place. Duke is final boss, and is always final boss. The rotating boss comes before this one, even before you enter the tower.

I think the boss you look for is in the portal area previous to the one you see Salosuum (the deadric titan that blocks the tower).

Finally got him two days after this post. First boss to spawn. LOL
