I'm working on a fan translation of The Elder Scrolls Online to portuguese, and I'm finishing up bug fixes for the Daggerfall Covenant questline.
It's strange, playing the base game and then playing newer ESO content. ESO's recent stories are cool, don't get me wrong, there's a lot of cool stuff in the DLCs, and I believe that Zenimax has learned to make increasingly bigger and more thought-provoking epic content.
However, there was something about the ESO base that was incredible: The immersion experienced by the depression of war. The horrors and dark side of life in Tamriel. But also moments of humor and laughter.
Furthermore, the game seemed much more filled with choices, and the quests effectively changed the scenery around you.
The base game may be less epic in many ways, mainly due to the limitation of technology. But wow, it really is worth a visit these days.
BTW: Even though DC isn't my favorite faction, it's interesting how it actually seems like the true Vestige faction. I mean, kind of the entire narrative of the story, in the end, just ties together because we're Vestige, you know?
Maybe it's just my imagination.
Anyway: if you haven't played the base game yet, do it. Whoever did it many years ago, do it again. The base game deserves it. Its better than we gave credit for.
