Forgot about having time to answer questions, isn't Tarvus dead? And died while archcanon? So how did he become a living "former archcanon"?

From the Morrowind Vivec questline:

PC: How long were you disguised as Tarvus?

Barbas: "Worried about the Archcanon? The poor old man. He died in his sleep, all peaceful like. I saw an opportunity and leapt right in. Stupid Vivec! He never even noticed.
I was masterful in the role, though, don't you agree?"

Eh, it’s a bit of a stretch to call dying in your sleep an ‘unfortunate incident.’

If I’d been writing it I’d have had Llevule answer everything with a preface along the lines of ‘oh, so sorry, Tarvus is with his ancestors now and I just found all your letters going through his things, I’ll answer them as best I can.’

It would make sense. Barbas seems obsessed with Clockwork City and nestling himself in with Sotha Sil would be just the sort of thing to further that goal.
