Templar Jabs/Puncture Sweep

I noticed that the skill isn’t hitting targets three time as stated. I hit the skill and it hit the enemy 2x, hit the skill again it hit 2x, hit the skill again it hit 3x then 2x on the next use. It was bad enough that the skill wasn’t hit 4x on the old animation but now it is missing again and since the damage has been reduced this is a significant drop in damage and impacts how quickly burning light proc. I think that the third hit in my third use is burning light proc. The other issue with this skill after 3-4 uses I am stuck in heavy attack animation that requires a dodge roll to remove the animations. This further reduces the damage potential of Templar.

Yes. The animation is horrible now, and it's still not working correctly.

Time for ZOS to revisit the animation and timing change again AND REVERT THE ANIMATION TO THE SPEAR OF LIGHT IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE! The night hollow stave being used as a spear is a stain on the devs I'd think they'd be anxious to repair.

I haven't tested it myself on a stationary target but I know this is pretty common when moving. Position desync might have a lot to do with it to. It's no secret that a number of years ago they changed something and it's been pretty bad ever since. More than likely, if you are moving around a lot it means your jabs are being processed from a position you were located as much as 1/10th to 1/2 of a second earlier - which can have a *huge* impact since we move pretty fast in this game.

I main Templars on three accounts. I know a glutton for punishment, I have never seen jabs not produce three damage scores but I am lazy and very often static.... Bastian constantly tells me not to stand still....... I just ignore him! :D

These days I very rarely notice the "dodgy" animation any more.
    When people say to me........
"You're going to regret that in the morning"
I sleep until midday cos I'm a problem solver!

    PVE or PVP?

For me, Jabs is just not nearly as effective in PVP as it was say a year ago before the animation change. Hits for less, seems to be easily dodged. Its basically only useful for proccing major sorcery/brutality, which can be had from a potion. This IMO is why so many templars just run around spamming radiant oppression. They broke our most effective tool.

This class has long been demeaned in favor of other paid classes. Look at what arcanists are doing now in pvp. Fate Cutter does 18-20k damage to me while my damage practically doesn't go through them at all

PvP position desync is terrible. Used to really be able to tell with a targeted melee ability before they increased the default range of melee. Those short reach abilities just would not fire even tough you appear to be right on top of someone

Jabs is too weak compared to arcanist beam, wchich is identical kind of ability and not force you to stay in melee range. Jabs should be more rewarding for it's melee range should shred through enemies not just scratch them.

I don't really see a lot of Arcanists out there beaming these days. Maybe there are some with Mayhem which I have not done yet. At any rate; Im not sure that ability would be my goal to hold up. I mean even flurry hits for more and doesn't suffer from evasion buffs. Still not a great ability.

I honestly have seen so few arcs in pvp right now. Probably having to do with the shield nerf. I suspect they will find even less next update with the changes to flail.

They’re not going to revert it. Out of curiosity, has anyone played any games where something like this has happened?

Like where aclass/character core function undergoes a half-baked visual overhaul (new animation is poorly animated + they did not update the light spear model for Aedric Spear Ult, Javelin, Spear Shards, etc) which is dramatically unpopular and yet still goes through?

Funny thing is that jabs and beam have the same base damage per tick (as in before crux buffs)

After further testing it does hit three times. Problem is the radius of is off for this skill.

Since I have seducer and a sparing target I decided to do some testing of abilities radius and range. Seducer is great for testing melee skills. Quite a few skills need either the description updated for the range / radius or the skills need to be updated.

I even tested range skills and I found quite a few where the range was falling a bit short and other exceeding the value listed.

Game seriously needs an update from a combat perspective as this is a major flaw imo for design. Stating one thing that clearly isn’t the case. Especially when some melee skills that do heavy damage with a range exceeds some range skill with subpar damage.

Fatecarver hits all targets equally vs puncture strike having reduced damage other than on the main target snaring them for.05 seconds.

Fatecarver morphs gets a bonus damage, immunity to being interrupted and shield on one morph and the other gets snare. Most players take the shield and immunity.

The other thing is that Arcanist has a really good and always on major sorcery skill that buffs their other class skill and provides a crux which than buffs Fatecarver. That great synergy for that class. Especially when when getting 20% from major sorcery, bonus damage from herald of time and than further damage increase to Fatecarver. That massive damage increase. They also get a damage shield and immunity to being interrupted.

Templar get solar barrage that provides minor sorcery and buffs all Templar skill damage by 5%. Or we could use dark flare but most use living dark to get the minor sorcery so many Templar don’t get the 5% damage to class skills. As for getting major sorcery Templar have to use biting jabs, weapon skill, degeneration or a scribing skill. IMO after testing all out, 2H is the best skill as it also heals and improve stamina recovery. The problem with a hybrid Templar is healing is expensive, cleansing is costly and the best way imo to play a Templar is a magic Templar which all major sorcery buffs are horrible imo for magplar.

Puncture strikes and its morph all should provide major sorcery on both bar if it’s equipped, if not equipped at least all morphs should provide the buff for 20 seconds. The magic morph should snare and heal and the stamina morph should snare on the first hit, immobilize on the second and stun on the third. Damage should be the same for both and slightly higher.

^ I would rather not have a stun on the spammable. Makes it unuseable as a spammable to me. Root would be nice

Hello, got a Templar problem. My Puncturing Sweep Skill does not proc the Chokethorn Set heal anymore. It was working a couple of months ago, but for some reason it has stopped. Could anyone verify that it is not working, guess a bug.

More details. I am using a one bar Templar (Breton) build based on : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JwVA4bwvBZo
using Chokethorn Set, 5 piece Deadly Strike, and 3 piece Trainee set, and Oakensoul ring. Puncturing Sweep Skill is suppose to proc the heal on Chokethorn, but now it does not work. I tested Chokethorn Set with the Restoring Focus Skill and it works, but no longer with Puncturing Sweep which has a healing component. I play PVE only. Bug?? Appreciate any help thanks!

If I remember correctly, his newest Templar build has dropped Chokethorn because it doesn't work like it used to. It isn't a bug, but the set has been changed so that it only works with actual healing skills instead of skills that deal damage but also have a healing component, like Sweeps.
