PVP feels stale and boring

Yesterday I logged into the game on the GH EU campaign to find nearly the whole map red and with few AD or DC players to challenge the big red presence. After playing in the last GH campaign where the only time you could get even numbers was in the evening which was full of ball groups, I decided to try Ravenswatch and found it dominated by my side with AD having superior numbers. It was slightly better as there was some good fights but again one side dominating the map and campaign.
I always try to help my side in the campaign but the main thing is having fun which for me is not completely dominating with numbers or being zerged down in most fights.
Ball groups are another thing that in my opinion sucks the fun out of this game and I leave when they appear which sadly is the only time there are even numbers on the map.
I really fear for the future of pvp in this game as it feels stale and boring. I for one would like there to only be 2 campaigns including a no cp one to force some real pvp rather than sides choosing to dominate one sided campaigns avoiding real pvp.

Yeah, nearly 6 years without any PVP content, a decade of deteriorating performance, and several years of no balance changes to an obviously bad meta will do that.

Population cap to 60 to 80 players each is almost the final nail.

There may be more reds, but they are of no use, it's just an afk alliance, basically the map is painted blue and yellow.

One of the sayings my grandmother had that's stuck with me through the years was "Only boring people get bored". And it was usually followed by something to the effect of "now go outside and find something to do".

i’ve definitely been playing a lot less, canceled my eso plus and am finding other hobbies.

The death of Undeath should liven things up, U43 can't come fast enough.

It really won't change things all that much at all.

I haven't run Vamp in months. There's been so many new defensive skills and utilities added over the past year that it's really not necessary at all. With how much shield stacking is available to every class now, people will just invest a tiny bit more into their survivability and it will still be a relatively similar meta.

Don't get me wrong, Undeath needed to go, but don't expect a sudden shift back to an FPS meta where people drop in a couple globals.

I interpret that your grandmother would say stop PvPing and go find something more conducive to your desires and talents.

As others have said here, it is stale and boring. Server performance on console is still atrocious ridden with lag, disconnects, glitches and more. Night/Day capping ruins the game and just drives players away, the only updates PvP gets is some new sets and that's really it. Cyrodiil needs a major overhaul...

There are an inordinate amount of encounters in which a player clings to life at low hp, frantically spamming defensive skills and/or jamming on their block button. Those will now be kills.

The map is too big for 60 - 80 players.

Time for a new two sided event with a timer.

My suggestions for Cyro too: Get rid of towers at resources, Towns, and the newer Outposts.

I don't think the 20% damage reduction to undeath will change things much. I've already seen counters to this.

Yup it is super stale and boring. Honestly I can’t help but feel bad for the few consistent players left… some are confined to Cyrodiil because they just don’t know what else to play. Usually when you step away from ESO for a bit you tend to realize how much of a waste of time it is (talking mainly about PvP).

There is still value in the PvE side of the game though if you like Elder Scrolls lore. Although there is unfortunately far more quantity than there is quality of quest content in a lot of cases. Probably due to the huge focus on farming dailies now.

PvE side of this game is still very fulfilling, entertaining and overall a good experience, your first point is spot on as well, most of us have been playing PvP for years and we still deal with all the problems because when PvP actually works in this game it's easily one of the best PvP options in the MMO market, just feels good and it's fun as hell. It's a shame Zos can't see that if they would take the time to give Cyrodiil the much needed overhaul it needs it would shine but they just neglect it constantly

When I get bored in PvP I switch to another character and often try new builds. The different classes have very different play styles.

I still find the big fights and large scale keep defenses/offenses fun.

Ball groups, tower humpers, trolls-- not fun.
3 GOs, a General, and bunches of prefects etc-- all classes...I've wasted a lot of time in PVP

The PvE experience has not aged well. It is a lot worse nowadays than people realize unfortunately. It’s still mediocre…. But that’s all. Just “mediocre”. At a time when many great PvE experience games are out.

My experience in PvE as a new player in 2015 was at a time when the game was incomparably smoother and more cohesive.
    Nowadays we have:
    - An Animation rework which causes animations to appear incredibly clunky. ZOS purposely did this because they wanted us to see all animations when light attack weaving. In the past, the game would prioritize the ability animation and not play the light attack, leading to smooth animation sequences.
    - First Person POV support. The game still has first person, but ZOS gave up on making stuff look good in first person. You used to be able to play the game like another TES game, but if you try now it’ll be full of clunky animations and you will be flooded with bright flashy effects that totally disrupt your gameplay. Arcanist in first person is a good example of how bad it can get.
    - Antiquites. Every activity you do, and every area you go to, is packed full of random gold text items you can apparently dig up. This is such a big turn off to people who just want to do normal gameplay as a new player.
    - Class Balance. Characters are significantly stronger than they used to be, and have much more sustain. The balance is far more akin to a typical MMO as opposed to an Elder Scrolls game. The “feel” of an Elder Scrolls game has been stripped away a lot.
    - Crown Store advertisements. Everywhere. Every Screen in the game is throwing the Crown Store at you. Entering a Load Screen = Crown Store Add. At the character select or looking through the Armory or making an Outfit? Crown Store can be accessed.
    - Storyline. For whatever reason, instead of creating separate zone stories for every zone, ZOS decided to connect zone stories to each other in a specific order. In the past this order was easy to understand, but it is now impossible to figure this out without reading online now. Idk about you, but if I play a new game, needing to read online just to barely understand the storyline chronologically is a huge turn off.

I can go on and on. The game is not something that anyone except an Elder Scrolls fan can get into anymore.

I think the PvE gameplay is worth it if you’re already into this game. But not the PvP.
And for a new player, I would never be able to recommend this game (unless the player is purely a big Elder Scrolls fan)

PVP in this game is awsome! If only they would support it!

Group balance is something they never have tuned. We have cried for over 10 years about the problem of stacking of heals. Nothing has been done! We have complained for years about the power creep of ball groups vs zone zergs. Ball groups should be about defeat a zone zerg at times but not consistently farm them. This will eventually destroy PVP as there will be no one to farm. This give a very toxic feeling and nature to PVP.
