Vampires can't drink wine?

Fen said so during the wine quest but I remember Gwen drinking wine on the Rivenspire quests. Also our vampire characters can eat and drink. Did I misunderstood something?

I took that to mean that they can't get drunk off it. They could still drink it for the taste.

I noticed exactly the same thing (and wrote about it in the PTS subforum weeks ago) and think it's basically a lore mistake.

Unfortunately, Fennorian's new dialogue isn't on UESP yet, so I don't know what he's saying in the English version. In my translation, he says (to translate it as closely as possible) that a vampire meeting at a vinery should make one suspicious, because "it's not like we (vampires) drink wine anyway".

Which makes no sense, poisonous or not. If we assume they meant that it's poisonous, it's wrong because our player characters who are vampires can drink wine without problems. If we assume it's not meant to be poisonous but that vampires as undead creatures don't have a need to eat or drink anything (except for blood), it doesn't make sense either because a vampire could still drink it for the taste.

I know there are some vampire stories where vampires can't eat or drink anything because they would get nauseous; maybe the person who wrote that dialogue had that in mind, but it never has been true for TES vampires.

I took screenshots because I also found it strange and contradicting to what I know, so here are two quotes from Eng version under the cut:

He states directly that they don't 'partake' in drinking wine altogether.. for some reason.

Thank you! I find the wording a bit weird in general, to be honest. "Partake in the stuff"? "Vampires don't need wine"? I mean, who needs wine?

In case ZOS or anyone else would need references as to why it's a contradiction\weird statement, I've found the source of 'ESO vampires can and will drink wine', screenshots under the cut (taken from YT walkthrough of user
Words By Parker, I've finished the quest too long ago). The dialogue happens during a celebration of sorts, for the context of why Gwendis would even drink it.

The dialogue heavily, if not outright straightforward, implies that she had too much wine, and 'won't remember' anything in the morning because of it. Gwendis and Fennorian know each other.

upd: The quest where this happens is ''Dream-Walk Into Darkness'' in Rivenspire.

The problem is that Gwendis getting drunk is a plothole, lorewise Vampires are not effected by poison which would include the effects of Alcohol, physically they would be unable to get drunk.

Maybe she only pretends to be drunk ;) But that doesn't change that she was able to drink it. And first of all our player characters can drink wine just fine.
