You read this and think nothing of it. Then you may remember this loading screen.

Ulfsild lived in the First Era. She wasn't around for the fall of the Second Empire, 430 years into the Second Era. She couldn't have known this area would be known as Reaper's March. She would've known it as Northern Valenwood, as stated in the loading screen.

Yes, but as a clue to the player where to find the location they need to go to, it works, regardless of the lore inaccuracy, which is what it's there for.

Don't get me wrong, I know what it's for. But Ulfsild "wrote" it. It's just silly

Or, the loading screen tip is folk etymology. Like that's the common explanation for the name, but it's older with multiple theories about the origin.

It could be as simple as an area that has two names. You ever live in a town or city that has an official name but that’s not what everyone calls it? I just assumed that is the explanation.

The loading screen says that the name "Reaper's March" refers to the many deaths in battles after the end of the 2nd empire, though.

This could be used as an explanation:

But do they ever make use of that in the loading screens? I've thought that everything that's not obviously given as an npc's quote (which they also do sometimes, including quotation marks and the npc's name) is supposed to be a given fact, an explanation about the game world by ZOS.

It could also be an example of
Crow, who is technically Ulfsild, manipulating the text for our benefit
