I spent waaaaay too long making the crow's nest accessible on the Fair Winds

I mean, this isn't on the level of creating a pyramid using housing pieces or anything, but every time I tried to get to the crow's nest I wound up either stuck on the bowsprit (because there's no way out of the forecastle once you jump down into it) OR I fell off the bowsprit because I couldn't get around the rope. Since working ladders aren't a thing, I added a ramp down into the forecastle and some planks and rails to the bowsprit:

And then I put Ma'iq in the crow's nest, because where else would he be?

Here's the ramp up. It's a terribly inelegant solution, but I liked it better than my first attempt, which was just to build a bridge across to the bowsprit with a smaller ramp up to the nest. That looked pretty odd.

Oh, and once I did all that I realized the crow's nest is slightly off center with the bowsprit and I just know that's gonna bug me forever. :-D

Maybe not ideal but some of my fave homes have weird little idiosyncrasies like this.

eg. Hall of the Lunar Champion.

The little house on the hill is bugged. I reported it many years ago but don't expect them to ever fix it.

The location of windows on the exterior and interior don't match - in particular around the right hand side if facing it from the portal entry. And I don't mean slightly not match, I mean like one of the windows is on one side of the room on the interior and the other on the exterior.

Also in the main entry hall, the steps leading to that portal are one shorter than the other two. Though that can be fixed yourself (at the cost of 1 slot) with a cheap and easy Elsweyr structural piece.

In the section with the little pool the two semi-circular daises are off centre. I wanted to put fountains and lights up on them and found it challenging to arrange them in such a way that doesn't draw attention to asymmetry. But I managed.

My takeaway is that's possible to be both unorthodox and also beautiful which might be a fitting lesson for a home made by a race made by Azura.

I suspect that there are very few examples in real architecture of things that are mathematically perfect, especially in things that are actually used. Practically speaking, you'd want a crow's nest to be high enough to be useful, and you want it to not fall off wherever you put it, and you want it to not unbalance the ship. As long as you've got those three, it doesn't really matter if it doesn't align perfectly with other things.

It's just... I spent so much time on that walkway, lol.
