So is this what we going to receive for necromancer at the launch?

I am guessing so, we will have to see what goes Live.

We will see what Q3 and 4 DLC brings for Necro.

Just level up the new class. Forget necro exists and make it your mule. The class is just so meh now. Slow, clunky, lacklustre burst damage, mediocre dot damage. Anything else @zos wants to add to the list? To break 100k dps you need to put in double the effort. Waiting months for them to fix a class this crap is inexcusable. Only thing I can imagine is ZoS is hoping that scribing will solve their necro problems.i can only speculate because they lack any form of communication when the player base is rightly frustrated with how they are dealing with class balance.

I might skip the launch but I really don't know what else to play maybe DBD or F76 for months until necromancer get fix.

At this point they may as well just delete necro. They couldn't care less about how rough this class is.

I just picked up Baldurs Gate 3. Time to make me a necro on that 😎

I don't understand why they did such a drastic change pre-gold road patch when they said. They would lay low on class skills as they are focusing on scribing.

I'm starting to get suspicious that they are trying to force all necro-mains to reroll arcanist so they can see the statistics on how successful they where with the new class..

I was about to ask if your presence in ESO depends purely on a single class, and if the game has no appeal to you beside that one class.
But well, it's always been the same for me too. Bad class balance/class neglectance are some of the most infuriating things in MMOs. Classes and combat are the heart of every game I suppose.

Class changes for this update weren’t expected, I don’t know what y’all hoped for. It was obvious the focus is Scribing and just that. We can be happy if we’re getting class changes in Q3, I even doubt that.

I don’t remember where I read it but I thought a dev said at some point during Q1 DLC PTS time that major combat changes were going to be during that quarters DLC.

I don’t know if they meant just this year or every year moving forward which would mean Necro might not get any real good changes until 2025. I don’t know though, so Q3 and 4 notes will tell the story.

There's a big new pvp update/feature coming later this year, most class/combat balance changes will probably happen during that pts cycle.

We will have to see. If they do then they do but if they don’t then they don’t. I have back up plans like making a new main and playing other games like Enshrouded or BG3.

One of the few games where you actually feel like a necromancer on a path to lichdom. Sadly when you reach peak lichdom, the game is almost over. What an awesome journey tho. I hope you have a great time.

They trying to keep us on the hook for a year until they fix classes. Great. Maybe they should focus an entire year on balance before releasing something new. Give the existing classes and systems a refresh and line them all up.

Yeah. I'd really prefer it if small combat related adjustments that don't require a lot of testing were made on a more regular basis throughout the year (I'm thinking of things like the new buffs to Betty Netch and Shocking Siphon), while bigger changes like the introduction of GLS are reserved for PTS cycles. I find it a bit annoying that we continuously have to wait for the next PTS cycle to see if underperforming classes/ playstyles will receive any kind of buff.

ESO's update cycles are too long and slow indeed. Almost all other MMOs do this much more frequently. BDO does it weekly (maybe a bit excessive, but shows that it's possible if you care for your game and have a clear vision), and even GW2, which I consider ESO's uglier and spammier sister, manages a balance patch once a month.

Let's face it, they made the Stalking switch to GLS before Scribing and intentionally gutted the ability to create corpses if you opt for that morph, so then all the screwed over Necro players will end up being "grateful" for the Necro scribing mastery script that creates a corpse evey 3s if there isn't one nearby. At this point they're like politicians taking with one hand whilst giving back less with the other and expecting folk to be happy about it.

GW2 gameplay is so much better than ESO's tbh... Necromancer builds especially are thematically on point, and if you want to be some sort of grave lord with a bunch of undead minions, then you can - and it's actually FUN to play.

I've said this before, but ESO could learn A LOT from how GW2 has created unique, thematically appropriate and immersive classes with multiple viable build options. Here we just have ten shades of the same builds

I do agree ESO can learn from other games. As for GW2's Necromancer... I was so unhappy with the class power fantasy in GW2, that I actually ended up maining Necromancer Harbinger.

I think the Necromancer skills there look very underwhelming, especially the staff attacks are just throwing mud around, and the minions are only useful for afk farming mobs. They have no relevance in actual content, and falter when faced with anything serious in the open world.
Elementalist's pets however; those are something to write home about. The earth elementals can reliably tank even difficult bosses for a long time, and you can even support them a bit with water skills.

Certainly much better than what pets Sorcerers offer in ESO. (Pets 1 slot when?) :D

Yes, it's doing fine. I have been gone from ESO for many years, and always had many opinions about it, but upon returning, I definitely feel like it has things those other MMOS do not. I find GW2 too spammy with absolutely no global cooldowns. I may be a gifted piano player, but I don't need it in games. :) Class fantasy is also lacking, aka no staff wielding elemental mage casting things. If you care to be anything near efficient that is. Staves in ESO are finally good now.

I believe ESO can be the absolute best if they continue honing the combat and class system. It's already amongst the best in that regard. (You see that when you were gone for years, playing other MMOs)

How can you deem GW2 too spammy when all skills besides left click (weapon skill 1) have a cooldown and ESO is the game without any cooldowns at all? I think I’ve never played a game as spammy with as much button mashing as ESO, lol.

Because in ESO, there is only so many buttons you are allowed to click, since there are global cooldowns. Makes it easy to keep track of the flow of combat.

GW2 has no global cooldowns, and no animations on the majority of skills when used in combos. Few actually play a lenghtier animation that gives a moment of respite. (Tough luck if you click the next skill too early or too late)
And you also have many potentially unusual buttons to press for your signets and identity skills (the special skills above your skill bar individual to each spec. Forgot the name). Not just 1-5 like in ESO.

GW2 also does not go all the way with the spaminess, because it has a cooldown on weapon swaps. If it was true spam and did not lock you into 1 weapon bar, it would be better. You just have too much to track in GW2 for my taste.
ESO feels more grounded and impactful. GW2 is simply a piano.

I tried GW2 for a bit during the PTS for U35 because its combat was supposedly familiar to ESO's, but I was definitely thrown off by those cooldowns. Admittedly I didn't play GW2 enough to draw any real conclusions, but from what I experienced I preferred ESO's combat. The World Bosses that seemed to require dozens of players to beat were definitely cool though.
