Another PTS cycle with still no updates for Stamplar

It's simple really, Stamplar needs it's tool kit expanded to not just make it a jank/knock-off version of magplar, so to that end, lets go over what stamplar has and then compare to magplar

Stamplar Has Got
  • Everlasting Sweep - Ult - Does Meh Tier base damage and okish dot damage in an aoe around the caster for 10 seconds which has its duration increased by 2 seconds per enemy hit, sounds good on paper but the problem is to make effective use it of you have to end up guts deep in the enemy group, where you'll be torn to pieces by them.
  • Biting Jabs - Spammable - Does middling direct damage in an aoe channel, hitting 3 times over 0.8 seconds, it also grants the user major burtaility and sorcery for 10 seconds, it just needs a but more bite, you take this into pvp land and you'll be doing 3 digit damage tops, add on the fact that the main "buff" from using this skill is one of the most easily aquired buffs in the game and you're left with a great big underwhelming meh of a skill
  • Binding Javelin - ranged stun - throw an unblockable resistance piercing spear that stuns the target for 4 seconds, the only problem with this one is that the animation makes it extremely telegraphed and thus easily dodged, if it wasn't for that it would be a solid skill
  • Power Of The Light - burst - Apply a mark to the target for 6 seconds and afflicting them with sundered, the damage this ability does increases by up to 200% based on how much damage you do to the target while they are marked, in PvE it's "fine" a bit underwhelming in terms of damage done for the single most involved burst skill in the entire game, but otherwise "fine" in PvP something is very, very wrong with it as it'll reguarly struggle to break the 3K barrier while effected by battle spirit
  • Repentence - Trash Cleanup Helper??? - Consume corpses to restore health to you allies within 12 meters, but also restore stamina to just you, gives you +15% to all reousrce recovery while slotted via minor buffs, this skill is actually good, sure the use is super niche, but it's GOOD
  • Restoring focus - sustain - applies Major resolve, restores 247 stamina a second and heals you for 2.5% of your max hp per second, standing in the rune increasing the healing by 200%, all in all a nice tool to have but it's more suited for tanks than anything else.

And that's literally it, that's all stamplar gets out of their class tool kit, if you look close you might notice that it's lacking a few things, such as
-Mobility
-Healing
-Defensive options
-Effective burst
-Non garbage ult
-Any form of group utility what so ever

I'm not even going list all the magplar skills as this post would be absurdly long, but, simply put, magplar has more in one skill tree than stamplar has total skills
Just in the Aedric Spear Tree, Magplar Has got
  • Crescent Sweep - Ult - like everlasting sweep but with 4 second less duration on the dot section and +60% damage done with the inital hit to targets infront of the caster - it's just good
  • Puncturing sweep - spammable - See biting jabs, remove Major sorc/brut and replace it with healing caster based on damage done, same pvp issues apply
  • aurora javelin - stun - See binding javeling, but knocks target back and increases damage based on distance traveled
  • focused charge - gap closer - yeet thyself at the target gaining major protection for 10 seconds, intrupting any casting enemies and setting them off balance for 3 seconds
  • Toppling charge - gap closer - yeet thyself at the target gaining major protection for 4 seconds, stunning the target for 3 seconds and intrupting any casting
  • Luminous shards - AoE DoT Support - throw a spear that turns a 8 meter area into a pain box, one ally can use synergy on the spear to regain a chunk of stamina and magicka, poor damage good support skill, all in all useful
  • Blazing Spear - AoE DoT Support - see Liminous shards but make the restore worse and the damage considerbly better
  • Radiant Ward - Sheild - summon a shield that also hits enemies with the inital cast in a 5 meter aoe around you, sheild is max hp% based, starting at 30% and increasing by 20% per enemy hit, solid choice for surviving group fights, also does surprizingly solid damage, completely useless agsaint bosses and in pvp however
  • Blazing Sheild - Hot Mess - See Radiant ward but reduce sheild increase to 4% per enemy nearby and have it explode when broken for 30% of it's max health, sounds moderate, but lets do something called maths, say you have 50K hp and are fighting 3 dudes when you use this sheild, that's a sheild with a strength of 21K strength, then the sheild breaks and does 30% of its durability as damage, totaling out to a whopping 6300, do I need to explain any further why this is a mess?

And this dosn't even bring up the fact that magplar has
-a burst that heals nearby allies
-the ability to turn into an aoe dot on demand
-eclipse, which is another hot mess, but this one eaither makes you immortal or is useless depending on setup
-two execute morphs, both with 28 meter range, both with a base damage of 8.8k, one healing the caster the other cranking the execute damage up from 480% to 500%
-a burst heal that targets two targets
-a burst heal that refunds its cost
-a burst aoe heal with optional go faster buff for everyone
-a highly efficent purge that also leaves a huge HoT circle on the ground
-the ability to turn that Hot circle into a DoT one instead WHILE STILL BEING A PURGE


Sure, my rant might make it seem like magplar has all the bells and whistles, but to be perfectly honest, while it's in a far better place than stamplar, overall templar needs more than a little love, or at the very least, a complete reversal of U35's effects on the class

so while I get that you're trying to make tankplar a thing ZoS, that's going to require consibly more work than giving stamplar a hug and giving them something, a heal or mobility or a defensive option....or for the sake of all templars everywhere, fixing the battlespitit issue with backlash causing the second burst hit to do diddly donk tier damage

    Not sure why are people still clinging to only using stamina costing skills just to call their char "stam".
    Templar has amazing magicka costing utility as well as damage, and since it's all hybrid now there is literally 0 reason now to utilize those skill, other maybe to rp.

    Not to mention using both pools makes sustaining easier.


    Literally every class uses buffs, heals, stuns etc that cost magicka, even if their higher resource is stam.

    I’m all for reverting U35, but beyond that, just don’t want to lose anything more. I don’t want Templar to get the GLS treatment. :(

    The overall point about stamplar is an identity issue far beyond players who want to use only stam-costing skills, which isn't feasible on an endgame PvE stamplar build in the first place.

    For PvE templar, hybridization did not mean that both stam and mag identities fused together. In the case of this class, it meant that stamplar became a magplar in stam clothing. Prior to U35, stamplar used to have a defining identity as the class best able, among other things, to stack weapon and spell damage, such that they were the only class where infused jewelry outparsed bloodthirsty. Magicka couldn't do that, and now stamplar can't do that either if they want to do competitive damage. That was due to the fact that the defining class skill of a stamplar likewise went from their Jabs spammable, which has differences from the mag version, to a magicka-only execute. The plurality of a PvE stamplar's damage now comes from that one magicka class skill. I use at least twice as many magicka class skills (I regularly have four) as stamina class skills (only ever two at most) for damage, and more magicka skills (I regularly use five) than stam skills (I regularly use three) full stop. If I use ten active non-ult abilities, I add another class magicka skill and a non-class stam skill.

    It's not that slotting a single mag skill kills the idea of a stamina identity. It's when you're getting the majority of your damage from 4-5 class mag skills, and only two class stam skills are viable in endgame content, that it feels like I'd be better off just admitting I'm trying to play a magplar with stam glyphs.

    Stamplar identity got subsumed into magplar with U35, and while I doubt it's ever coming back, it's hardly fair to blame anyone for lamenting the loss.

    You new to games or fantasy tabletop or something? Because archetypical pure warrior who uses only their weapons and physical abilities to defeat their enemies or protect their allies has been one of, if not the, most popular character builds of choice in fantasy for decades upon decades. So naturally many people would want to gravitate to that. Because there is just something really fun and grounded about playing a normal ol badass in a world of magic and powerful supernatural entities.

    However, ZOS with their hyperfixation on forcing the player into using magic or even just magic in general to the point the only REDGUARDS AND NORDS that get any focus are mages, has denied players the ability to do that in anything past overland.
    That and the whole system was just poorly designed in that matter to begin with because of classes and every class being a mage in some manner. Which is why myself and many others have been asking for years for a close-range oriented fighter class that is primarily stam morphs with a few options for mag morphs. Not that it will mean much after the gigantic mistake that was hybridization.

    Only Elder Scrolls game where you are actively punished for trying to play a no magic build btw. Play your way my ass.

    Whatever main spamable you use. The DoTs and buffs are just there for more dps.
