Unlikely boat routes

I took a boat from Greenshade to Shadowfen, but the latter is landlocked... Why is this possible? I mean, I know it's a swamp, but it's really landlocked if the map is to be believed.

it's not land locked. Alten Corimont is connected to the sea, we just can't go to the sea there ourselves because there's no zone east of Shadowfen yet.
