Crafting Boosted by Bag size!

For those of you that are crafters, you will hopefully see the merit in my argument.
Those of you that want to play solo, you may not, but I hope you support my argument.

Due to the Size of the Bag we are being forced into specialising into Crafting roles, I think it is entirely possible for a Solo player to do the main armouring, weapon creation crafts (Blacksmith, Clothier, Woodworker) to support their own basic needs level by level.
However it is not possible to add in any of the other crafts (Enchantment, Food, Potions) as these are space prohibitive, due to the sheer number of ingredients.

This means that the majority of the community will be dependant on the small dedicated crafters for these products, which results in a thriving market.

We should all welcome this and should encourage Zenimax to keep the bag sizes as they are.

I have to agree, although bag space isn't much and costs exponentially more to keep upgrading, it gives you something to work towards in the long term. It also means you are forced to manage your items. I kinda like knowing I will have to spend a whole load of gold to get more space, there is also your Horse too :)

Wouldent mind more bank space.. or a seperate tab for materials...
But I can get around it. I'm leveling all the crafts atm... I got myself a decent enough DPS setup to level on, and then putting as many skillpoints in crafting as I can.
I always make sure to take better passive traits first thu, before using skillpoints on crafting... dont want to gimp myself either for dungeons and such.

But yeah, atm my bank is pretty much full with Smith/cloth/wood materials.
Then I got 4 mules to hold materials for the rest and all the armor/weapons I want to research traits on....

The current works fine. Yes, you can't keep everything, I routinely get back to town, craft every profession, consolidate stuff in the bank then go back out.

I find this really important, picking what to leave in the bank and what to carry.

The only time I have to sacerfice anything is when I have items I am holding so I can research.

Don't keep lower tier crafted items, you are going to make better next trip anyways. Yes, beef up your backpack and bank.

My one issue is I don't like the shared bank, I want my characters to get their own stuff, not have to remember which character put what in the bank.

Yes, we are limited and can't keep everything, it adds a more strategic approach to the crafting.

I think people are holding on to everything, if you are holding on to 4 different racial components, half a dozen traits , half a dozen provisioning items you don't have recipes for yet..well you get my point, yea you will run out of space.

Thing is, you can get all those again later.

Keep what you can use now and in the foreseeable future, sell the rest.

    I'm with you.

For me, I'm much more concerned with storing stuff. Inventory management is not enjoyable for me, particularly as we gain more toys and special items. I'm all for allowing people the most possible space for the smallest headache. Having to constantly shuffle things around isn't enjoyable for me, nor is having to toss stuff out (and the people that do enjoy it can simply not upgrade their bags, and we're all happy!).

As my wife notes as well: as long as we have alts, we can specialize in all crafts anyway. Is that helping the economy?

Other games have allowed for way more space, and still had a need for crafters and specializations. PSU offered literally 500+ spaces *per character* and the market did just fine.

During beta and so far during early access I've found that if I want to be a provisioner I must forsake storage of pretty much anything that isn't a food or beverage ingredient. There are just too many provisioner resources - have you seen how many different types of grape there are? I've got 6 types of grapes already, and if I add in other types of berries I've found then that number goes up to 22.

Before the EU server went down I had filled my bank purely with provisioner crafting resources, and my bags were roughly half full with the rest that I couldn't fit in the bank. I've got 80 bag storage and 80 bank storage with 2 upgrades unlocked on both of those. I don't have room for equipment or trinkets or resources for other crafting professions.

Blacksmiths, clothiers and woodworkers all share some of their resources, notably those resources required for traits and for racial styles. Besides those shared resources blacksmiths only need to concern themselves with the various tiers of metal ore and ingots. Similarly clothiers just need to hold onto the various tiers of cloth and leather.

It seems to me that most professions don't have the same storage concerns as a provisioner. If cooking is your choice of crafting profession then please be prepared for some serious storage concerns!

I don't believe you have to manage your bags unless you are trying to craft everything for yourself, on my main I do Blacksmith, Clothing and Woodwork, I have not needed to manage my bags. I would suggest that you are currently carrying things you don't need sell them make a little gold and buy what you need from a crafter!

But currently you obviously don't and most won't go to that effort, when they can buy what they need.
