single proc tarnished nightmare 31k how is this possible

I dropped dead from a NB bomber who hit me only with tarnished nightmare, a 31k crit, plus sundered. I never saw him. The set applies sundered. But it has to be procced by critical damage. So he must have hit someone else with some damage, within 8m of me and I got hit by the proc.
But that amount of damage FROM A SINGLE PROC IS COMPLETELY ABSURD.
Is this some new exploit??
Other times Ive been hit by this set it was basically harmless

2 GOs, an overlord and bunches of prefects etc-- all classes...I've wasted a lot of time in PVP

Most got closed iirc, but you should be able to find some of them still.

    The TL//DR:
    Yes, its a bug.
Yes ZOS is aware of it and apparently have a fix they are working on for it.
No, we don't have an announcement yet (that I have seen) about when this fix will be implemented.

Set is bugged. We are not allowed to openly say on forum how the bug works to not encourage others to use it.

Took them like 1 month to fix the bash necro ‘bug’ might as well farm the set and have some fun yourself

It's a new exploit. Most of these threads are being nuked though since zos doesn't want the issue to become even more widespread. Might be a few weeks, or even a month+ to fix.

They should disable the set until they address the issue. I mean, this would be the common sense approach of stopping the spread of the fire.

As far as I understand the set is bugged as it is doing stuff that is unmentioned in the tooltip/set description.

    The big question is:
A: Is it an "Intended" Bug so that PvP-ers would buy new DLC Dungeon and this "Bug" is an intended action that was smuggled under the carpet to live server ?
B: Is it indeed an unintnedned Bug ?

I will give it a benefit of a doubt, although the "intended" scenario is more logical. I mean, there is no way some one can "code" a set accidentally like that.

It is copying the scaling of a spell that scales with targets hit from my understanding

The set is bugged, the damage scales with weapon & spell damage but it can also crit and scales with damage increase of other skills like proximity detonation (+100% damage per enemy) and probably master's weapon too.

Spam detonation and just wait for a crit, I tool 60k damage from one tick of this set.

Meh, you'd be surprised. I once was working on a game where a weapon was misconfigured in such a way that it worked in all but one specific level. In that particular level instead of firing normal energy bullets it fired the boss of the level... it got a laugh out of me when I found it. I think the fact that this made it to live says far more about their quality control procedures. Hmmm, now wasn't there something they mentioned about a slowdown on content so they could focus more on bug fixes and quality? Or maybe what they meant to say was that they would slowly start moving people to other projects while maintaining this one with a skeleton crew? Ah yeah, that sounds more like it.

ZOS have already told us that Tarnished is bugged and that there is an exploit. It seems like some don't think ZOS will act to curb the exploiters.

They never have in the past.

Can't tell you the amount of people I reported for the old Unfathomable bug, and remember the Undertaker bug?

Don't forget the prisoners rags and cowards gear bug, which people used to get easy PvE achievements, which ZoS actually care about, no one got banned for any of those.

I wish it affected the CS somehow. It would have been fixed last week.

Saying that they never have in the past is completly wrong.

Simpliest example is Salvation set. People who were abusing it in both PvE and PvP when it was bugged were banned.

You need to provide proof of exploit, or ZOS won't act. In this case an image of the death recap should be enough to show who is exploiting.

This exploit is easy to activate so some may do it unintentionally, but ZOS can avoid banning unintended use by giving them a warning/suspension and bann on next proven use.

That one was before my time, but I can think of at least another 10 bugs with sets that never got anyone banned while being actively used in PvE and PvP.

Both bugs that happened just by wearing a set, by combining withing others, or having to use specific skills. None in recent times have resulted in a ban.

How much resistance and how many different non-resistance sources of damage reduction were you running when this happened? I am asking just out of curiosity.
