Yeah, since couple weeks (u41). I believe there's one more piece have no loading maps but don't remember due to its infrequent use.

Yes. It applies to all the hats of that "base" type. It will clear up/fill in if you wait a minute or so.
It kinda seems like Zenimax isn't even trying to fix all the little graphics glitches in the new game: halloween decor scattered all around tamriel, naked quest givers and bodyguards, these missing hats, etc.

We have a list of these odd bugs to fix. We are prioritizing some of the bigger bugs ones first. But we are going through these and passing them to the team as they are reported.

@Shara_Wynn Thanks for flagging this. We'll make sure dev team is aware and will work to resolve.

But seriously, on Xbox I coulda swore that my toon with a dyed werewolf hunter hat looked ok. I'll double check tonight.

It doesn't really fill in for me. It pops in at certain angles, then pops out. And then stays mostly out.

My own hat always renders correctly. It's other players' hats that don't.

Oh, is it a black head now? I know at least before last patch it was still making me completely headless. Got borked around U41 an has been ever since. Of course, on my screen my character looks fine but to everyone else...

This is happening with other hats too. If you keep your reticle on them they'll eventually load in, but not right away.

The bug is actually related to view distance, not whether the reticle is pointed toward the character. If your camera is too far away, the head goes black. Move closer, and the textures load. Move farther away, it goes black again.

Does the character who has the bug see it this way? I thought it was just others.

i dont know lol, ive never seen the bug happen

i have seen the "black head bug" from some of the hats mentioned in this thread though, but i dont use the hat on my own character either

I saw one of those yesterday: another player character's head was just a black void of nothing, then a few seconds later, the head and headgear reappeared.

I see unrendered heads regularly when I do my crafting writs. I do hope that none of the hats that I use are bugged…

I hope a fix is coming.

Out of curiosity, I counted (1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi) to see how long this would persist for.
I got to 52 Mississippi before the model was rendered in. Ridiculous.
