I do like the color (very warm and very on-theme), but it does kinda make your outfit colors look inaccurate. Not sure if that's the right word ... and, in the end, not really sure it matters?

They are trending towards de-emphasizing player choice regarding how your character looks. Unwanted red glows, class locked styles, 120 degree orange tinted and washed out equatorial Martian autumns, etc. Fonts are getting lighter and fuzzier, and character outfit pixels may not be far behind. So I guess we can roll with the changes, or not.

It doesn't matter to me; but then, I don't spend a lot of time looking at the character select screen.

To me, it looks like all my characters are standing in a lovely warm sunset, which is a nice change after the years they've had to spend standing in snowy shadowed regions or dank mushroom fields.

Turning off bloom in the graphics setting makes it less crazy bright.

The games bloom setting changed around a year ago and become much more pronounced from what I recall. I used to have it on all the time but turned it off at that time because the effect was just too strong.

Yep. For me resulted in the perfect incentive I needed to no buy the new chapter. If I can't stand the insane light of this menu I'm pretty sure now that I don't want to spend 1 minute in that new zone. Luckily there's a lot of amazing zones that I didn't complete yet. So, it's ok to skip this one. I just need a way to skip this menu too.

It should be optional. I absolutely want to get rid of it from my account forever, but I understand that you should be able to keep it if you like. It would be really nice if we could chose the theme for the menu.

Also, I didn't buy the new region and now I'm sure I'll not buy it. So, why is it in my account menu if I didn't even buy the new chapter? At least I should be able to keep the menu theme from the last chapter I bought.

I'm not a big fan of orange except in moderation. The same with bright yellows and reds. Large amounts of bright colors are uncomfortable for me to look at.

While this screen is better than the mushroom it could be way better if the colors were toned down.

I actually really like the new login screen, but I wish we could customize the character select screen.

For some characters it looks fine, but for ones that I used white dyes on the yellowness kinda ruins the look I was going for.

I like it overall, but the light does weird things to my outfit, hair, and skin color. Skin looks more golden, which I don't hate (some people might), hair looks much lighter, but my outfit looks green.

This is very pretty scenery and lighting. Absolutely out of place and over the top for what is technically a... well, technical screen.

I noticed on my own character select screen (and it can be seen in the comparison above) that the character previews are a lot more pixelated and less defined. It almost seems as though the harsh glare was designed to draw attention away from that fact, and minimize the change. Of course, it could be entirely coincidental, too. Either way, it's definitely a step backwards in character clarity and crispness.

Overall I like the new background - autumn is my favorite part of year, so I'm biased. That said, saturation is too high in my opinion. Would be great if it was tooned down a bit.

Have some characters, that look awsome in this lighting - mainly those with white, gold and red themed outfits. Others look weird. My dunmer with purple and black color scheme looks simply awfull - grey skin tone looks strange and sickly with added orange lighting and purple turned ugly brownish color. Some shades of blue are almost just as bad.

In ideal world ZOS would let us switch to background of our choosing, preferably for each character.

The new character select screen is a bit over the top and I say this as someone that typically loves autumn. I think I could handle it, in moderation, but a year of it is rather...no thank you. I miss the original Alliance screens that were per-character. My best-case-scenario would be to have the screens be one per story DLC area (chapter/zone), one for each Alliance, and one for Coldharbour. Then people could either choose to set based on last valid location screen prior to logout, per character, or set the screens static for each character.

Now that I had a chance to see the screen for myself, I actually liked it. Granted, I was expecting an overwhelming and apocalyptical storm of orange. It's good to see another bit of non-PvP Cyrodiil!

I think that it's funny that people are comparing the Gold Road chapter to Blackwood, not Necrom, especially since Necrom is the chapter with the "ugly pizza fungus", LOL

Strange to complain about ugly fungi without showing the accompanying screenshot.

Then again, people complain about / comment on things in-game that they've never seen or encountered personally, so I'm not surprised...

It's all about the "likes" and popularity, after all!
