New status effects are interesting, but... (PvP related topic)

I do appreciate new status effects and how they realised now (mb except Minor Mangle loss from bleed but that's another story).

But 4 weeks already passed... And no talks about Elemental Susceptibility.
2 of 3 status effects of this skill got damage doubled, Burning lost just 6% damage. Also minor vulnerability (and brittle for ice staff back bar in pvp).
And all of that absolutely free. No cost at all.
Cherry on top - Vateshran destruction staff (actually - why no nerf as master dual wield?)

So for free u get:
1) 30 sec Major Breach
2) 3 status effects with minor vulnerability (and chance of minor brittle) with 6/7 uptime (it's so high I'd rather say it's even full uptime)
3) proc damage from vate destruction staff (if you using it ofc).

So pretty loaded, right?
Meanwhile - nb's Mark target & morphes exists, cost about 3k mag, provides major Breach for 20/60 sec (morph dependency), screams to everione with probably most alerting visual effect in the game of black pillar from the sky. (actually - with all our "morph should have different functionality" talks and changes, why not to rework one morph alike Camouflaged Hunter, but costs mana?)
Khm... But back to Elemental Susceptibility.

Skill already was unreasonably overloaded. With new status effects - even more.
That one skill is so good that not slotting Ice staff on backbar for it - feels like mistake.
That should be good option, not "must have" tool.

i dont think they nerfed vateshran destro because the main problem is more ele sus

the dmg from vateshran destro is medocre, the scaling is slow (1% per target taking dmg, which in a 1v1 fight is going to be 1% per tick, which is nothing as it wont even hit 10% until the final tick)

i would probably expect ele sus to get looked at for either an incremental before gold road chapter, or with the gold road chapter

the other thing is chilled and concussed status effects are not dot, so they only hit 5 total times over the course of the 30 sec (on cast and every 7.5 sec after so the avg dmg from these is pretty low) of ele sus assuming its not purged early, while on the other hand burning is ticking almost the entire time ele sus is in effect

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

Ele Sus is absolutely overtuned. There's not a single reason it shouldn't have a cost attached to it, and on PTS it's doing about half the damage of a spammable - giving 90% of PvP builds (including melee builds) a free, ranged source of consistent damage that can be spammed is ridiculous.

This. Not saying it needs to have a huge cost, just a cost relative to other spells that add dots and status effect (e.g. burning embers). So like 1500 magicka, give or take? Ele Drain, the other morph, could continue at 0 or perhaps half of the cost of Ele Sus.

Maybe part of the tradeoff is losing the better passives from the melee weapons, but free is just not going to cut it.

I wish elemental susceptibility did what its name suggests and, depending on staff type used, grants a debuff to the target granting an elemental dmg bonus against them (even if its just from the caster). Would also be neat if it also applied the status effect of that type at increased rate. Say, every 4s.

It would make the skill more niche but incredibly rewarding for pure elemental builds.

    Bit too late for this.

Somehow VAT Destro, Ele Sus, and NB's Siphoning Attack morphs made it to live despite obviously being over tuned. This isn't meant to blame anyone, the blame is on ZOS, but I feel like it's because much of the discussion was based on Gravelord's Sacrifice and look how that turned out.. :(

In the other thread I made about status effects, we discussed some reworks like:
    • Major breach for 20s instead of 30s.
    • Add 2700 magicka cost, same amount found on ranged dots/spammables.
    • Replace x3 status effects for x1 status effect based on weapon you're holding.
    • Lower CD of status effect procs from 7.5s to like.. 4-6s, depending on what is fair.
    • Add a unique "x element damage taken" based on the element of the staff you're holding. 5-10% would be decent.
